I need to get myself a shotgun. But for now I rely on my 1911. I know it's not the ideal weapon for HD, but it's what I have and I'm making do.

I just realized a situation in which the handgun excels. My family and I went on a weekend holiday recently. Due to limited vehicle space I could not bring a carbine or a shotgun even if I had them. So I brought my 1911. It takes up hardly any space and it is easy to bring while traveling.

Mossberg 500. It was a good, cheap first gun to get me set up -- better to have something than to wati forever to get perfection

Smith and Wesson model 64-5. Stays loaded and usually follows me wherever I go in the home or property. Sometimes I leave it in my bedroom along with my cell phone (plugged in so never a dead battery) and extra ammo on strips and speed loaders. I'd keep my mossberg 12ga out but prefer to have it locked in the safe with the other guns...mainly because I can't hide it in my bedroom as easily as I can my revolver, and I don't like to have gun stuff laying around in plain view due to visitors or break-ins...don't want to hint any bad guys that there may or may not be a gun hidden somewhere. Though the revolver usually comes with me when I go out and about :)

A 20" Mossberg 590 with GRS, loaded so I have two Federal Premium Low Recoil 00-Buck with FliteControl wad up first, then SLUG x 5.

Also a GLOCK34 with a new set of Trijicon night sights and 16 rounds of 147-gr XTPs doing a little over 1100-fps.

Mossberg 500 12 gauge with Hornady TAP 00 buckshot and my XD-40 with 12
rounds of Speer 165 grain gold dot.:D

My primary home defense weapon is an HK 91 loaded with Hornady 110 gr. TAP .308.

My backup/immediate access is an HK45 loaded with Hornady 230 gr. TAP +P rounds.

I've had to use my primary before, but luckily, the sound of it chambering a round was enough to make the BGs flee.

I keep an 870 under my pillow and a model 10-5 and sp101 in other strategic locations.

hahaha! that gave me a really good laugh.

Other than my two EDC handguns, I have this ready to go in my apartment.

AR, 12 guage, and whatever handgun I was wearing last. The two long guns are in a similiar state of readiness, full of ammo but empty chamber, and I guess if I was to pick one I would probably go for the shotgun but I like to keep my options open.

I checked shotgun, Mossy 500 12 gauge that stays bedside, but I also have a Springfield XD9SC on the night stand that I carry around the house.

My go to gun in the middle of the night is a suppressed Glock 19. I want to hear the police officers questions after it is all over.

Remington 870 with a 14" barrel.

Mine is a Norinco HP9-1. I keep it in our bedroom closet with 5 boxes of 2 3/4" OO buck.
