Primer Plant Update

Looking at google map images of the site compared to the OP image it looks like some site improvements have been done since google passed by. LOTS of ventilation in those buildings.

Very few building remain from back when it was a munitions plant. These being one of the few. Most of the old munitions plant is now vacant land. Original announcement indicated the site in TX was intended to be used for an industrial park and it lays mostly level network of internal roads, has rail services and easy access to I-30. But didn't see any evidence of new construction.

Once toured the old Badger Ordinance site in Wisconsin, and it had major environmental contamination issues. Was going to be very expensive to clean that one up. This site in TX may have similar issues.

So, what I think I’m hearing is Hornady and Sig saying to themselves, “Ain’t no way I’m paying Vista that much for primers. We’ll just make our own primers for making ammo and sell the surplus when that time comes.”
I agree with others that hopefully it will at least free up some CCI and Winchester primers for the masses.

Free Market works just like that….

Hornady —- VISTA is charging what for primers… Hold my Beer Sig, I go this

Manufacturing sees their supply chain shift towards a sole source and flips a theoretical coin: risk shortages and unplanned cost increases or introduce a new set of risks by self-sourcing? If the coin lands on its edge, do both.
I’m not sure how this will affect the handload supply market - we will probably just see a wider variety of equally expensive products - but it’s fun to watch.

I thnought this post was going to expand on the video dropped on Monday.
The primers are coming. Watch the video. Whether they're any good, or go bang when needed is still to be determined. Still looking for the update video from actual load tests.
