Where do you stand on having stickers on your vehicle that display your interest in guns, and possibly indicate that you are carrying?
My Father-in-Law is a Life Member of the NRA, owns many guns and also carrys. He will not display an NRA sticker on his vehicle though, he has said that it is 'advertising he has a gun' and he wants that to be a suprise.
I recently saw a pickup truck here that had graphics on the rear window in 8" high letters saying 'Gun contol is using both hands'. I assume the owner of that vehicle is of the opposite opinion to my FIL.
I'm divided on this, I agree with my FIL but at the same time I think it's a decent heads-up to send out to BGs and LEOs.
But I'm not sure.

IMHO, advertising's not a good idea. Too easy for someone to follow you home, and break in.

An NRA sticker on the back window is almost a requirement around here. Got one on the van (don't drive it much anymore), nothing on the other vehicles.

I myself refuse to bow to the "cult of fear" that most americans feel content to live under. In other countries people do not even lock their doors and are no more likely to be attacked in their homes than we are with our three deadbolts. Reality of the situation is you have almost no chance of being the target of an organized crime attack. I will not live my life fearing what other people know about me and wondering when they are going to come after me. If you chose to that is your right and I will not stop you but do not try and justify your paranoia to me.

I've got an NRA sticker on the windshield of my Motorcycle and about a hundred shot up pistol targets in the back of my Camaro that can be easily seen thru the hatchback.

It probably doesn't hurt that 90% of the targets have 9 out of ten shots in the X or 10 ring. No one's screwed with my car in 8 years.

I don't advertise the fact that I have guns, but then I also don't go out of my way to hide them. As far as a bumper sticker influencing if your property is broken into, I think you have to worry more about politically motivated responces.

Personally, bumper stickers are not my thing, I have never put one on my car. The only sticker I would even consider would say: "All of my social, political, and religious views summed up in one sticker."

Leave your end quote alone, it's fine.

Think I'll go put a NC Rifle & Pistol Assoc. sticker on the Camaro....

I agree with the FIL.

No stickers on my vehicles.

I don't want to advertise or attract attention. You never know what someone may do.

And, I do NOT live in fear. By that belief, why own any guns for self-defense? Are you living in fear?

Its not because I am in fear of attack its just being prepared because in the real world bad stuff happens and I do not subscribe to being a victim.

I don't like to advertise either. And not just pro-gun stuff, I mean at all. If Brand X wants me to advertise, then they can pay me to be a mobile billboard.

Just my .02,

Jubei

I don't use bumper-stickers on my beautiful car, period. Added to that, I don't consider myself paranoid but I wear my gun-type clothing, etc, to the range, nowhere else - just like I wouldn't carry openly even if it were legal in this state.

Am I thinking too much now?

Also, I have noticed people put Fraternal Order of Police stickers at the rear or driver's side of their vehicle, which it just so happens is the line of sight of a LEO when he walks up to your vehicle after stopping them.
Do some people also put NRA etc stickers on their vehicles to gain respect from LEOs and maybe get a break instead of a ticket?
I'd love to know if those FOP stickers ever actually result in a 'dropped' ticket.

Where I live the Antis run rampant. Just to give them something to talk about I have 2 in my truck window.

One says " 2nd Amendment; defender of the rest." The other says "Buy a gun for America".
Many old-timers remark about the latter one. They remember the campaign during the war urging americans to buy guns.

I guess people should never put those "my child is an honor student at..." bumper stickers on their car either.

It tells kidnappers that you have a kid.

I have a little white "mac apple" logo on my rear window of my truck. None has broken in and stole my computer yet. :)

Some people just like to live in fear..the "I better vote conservative republican or the terrorists will eat my babies" crowd.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree - anyone who knows me would tell you that I don't live in fear at all, but see my signature below for my philosophy on keeping under the radar :neener:

I don't have a pro-gun, NRA, or any other sticker on my vehicle. Generally my vehicle has a hidden firearm in it, and I just don't want to take the very small chance of having someone break into my car because of it.

I don't wear my NRA baseball cap when I'm cc either. Most people just assume an old fart like myself isn't armed, and I don't want to draw their attention to the fact that I'm a NRA member, and MIGHT be carrying.

I do however have TWO NRA stickers on my wifes golf cart. One over the hole in the vinyl of the rear fold-down seat, and one on the other side to balance it.

As of this date no one has stolen her bottled water.

Just prudent in my opinion not to draw attention to a connection between yourself and firearms.. Particularly when you are cc..

Best Wishes,

JP :D

It's not that I am afraid of thieves or militant blissninnies, I just don't like advertising of any kind. I don't wear clothing with brand logos and I have removed the dealer name from all my cars. If I am to be a walking/rolling billboard for anyone I better be getting paid for it.

Now, my gun cases have some international oval type stickers with 7.62 instead of country designation, but that's because I keep 7.62mm guns in them. :)

As a joke for a friend, I had some bumper stickers printed that say "My Other Auto Is A Glock." However, I didn't adhere one to my vehicle. I just put them in the same drawer as my NRA, Thunder Ranch, IDPA stickers. Personally, I think such advertising announces that you very well may have a firearm in the vehicle (even if you don't). Just my $.02

About 10 years ago I got a jury summons for a murder trial. It was a pretty high profile case...the murder of an abortion doctor. One of the questions on the 20+ page jury questionnaire was "Do you have a bumper sticker on your automobile? If so, list them."

I don't put bumper stickers on my vehicles. I think that jury questionnaire was trying to define you by your responses.

That is a reason I can understand. I love animation characters and have tons of t-shirts with them but refuse to wear the ones with the big ad for Disneyland, WB, or others on them.

You mean I may not be the only guy at a range somewhere wearing a Rocky&Bullwinkle shirt? Scary. :neener:
