Does anyone else have issues loading ProMag pistol mags to full capacityz or are my thumbs just that weak? I've never had a magazine I couldn't load to max capacity, but this morning I received a 15 round mag for my CZ P10c, and I only managed to get 10 rounds in. I took it apart to see if there was anything causing the spring to bind up, but found nothing. I'm about to take a drive to my local shop to see if they have any of those Uplula mag loaders in stock, because dayum. 😅

Several times I heard on THR, "Friends don't let friends buy ProMag magazines" ... And based on my experience with ProMag magazines, I concur. :)

Many times I heard on THR, "Meg-Gar magazines are good to go" 👍

I have confirmed countless times on THR, "Factory Glock magazines are very long lasting and keep on feeding until springs/followers wear out" :)

I have stated many times on THR, "Magpul magazines are good to go (AR and Glock)" :)

IMHO, life is too short to be messing with ProMag magazines when there are better options available.

😅

I've sometimes had problems loading to full nominal capacity, but not that bad. Down a round or two, at most.

Spring reversed, front to back, when assembled, possibly?

ProMag Issues

Everyone has to find that out for themselves, I guess.

Problem is, I've looked for weeks, and NO ONE has CZ P10c mags available, except ProMag brand ones. I don't feel comfortable carrying without at least one spare mag.

An uplula tool for loading mags are worth every penny. Not familiar with the pro mag, but don't think it would bother the uplula tool.

Factory CZ magazines "IN STOCK":

Agree with the others, ProMags are iffy in general. They certainly are useful for malfunction practice.

Having said that, I've had several magazines from other manufacturers for other gun types that are stiff as a beast to load until they are "broken in". Although, I don't think my 30 round mags for my Beretta CX4 will ever be broken in. 😕

I got a couple of Beretta 92 Pro Mags in a trade. They can be difficult to load and the round like to rattle around in the mags once they are loaded. For the most part, they seem to shoot OK, but I just use them for range mags and wouldn't trust them to carry.

When I pulled them apart, I noticed that the followers were a little weird and didn't have a distinct front and back leg on them like the factory and other mags I have. The springs also go up into the followers weird and the followers tend to be "tippy" and I think that's a lot the problem.

I load all my mags with an Up Lula before I go to the range, and with the Pro Mags, if there's an issue (usually some binding), if I pound the base of the mag into my hand and can feel the stack unweight as I do, it seems to make loading them easier and more solid, with less rattling. That same method seems to work well with my 9mm 1911 MecGars that like to bind up at round #3 when loading.

I've had problems with ProMag, but I always get them to work. Usually it's too much spring in the mag. I had two ProMags for a Rugar that had almost twice as much spring stuffed in them as they should have. Poor QC.

I've been pleasantly surprised by recent ProMag magazines. They have all worked and so far been reliable. They have been 9mm/45acp and for SW99 and a Sig P229 P220.

Not all Promag mags are junk, I think it very much depends on what gun you're using them in and what ammo you're using. I have the 10 rd LCP Promag mag and it works great, also have a .22 for a Mossberg and I can't find any issues with the mag itself, probably more the ammo I was shooting.

I'm thinking whatever issues Promag had and are repeated ad naseum by folks were from 20 or 30 years ago and, much like certain brands of firearms, those people have taken those experiences and extrapolated them out for decades under the belief that said brands can never be good because of one bad experience many years ago.

That's tough to hear. I had two, lightly used, that I traded off last fall. Nobody seemed interested in them.

My last new ProMag purchase was a 20-round AR15 mag about 10 years ago. It came with a fantastic tilting follower that would allow a cartridge to slam into the receiver below the chamber. Doing that would shove a bullet almost all the way into its casing.

I fixed it by installing a MagPul non-tilt follower, which only came in packs of three. Which nixed any cost savings of buying a ProMag.

There’s a reason it’s my last ProMag magazine.

Or you could have just bought two more ProMags.....

Just kidding a bit.

I would also not buy ProMags. I have tried them off and on over the yeas with the same resulting failures. I wouldn't say that all ProMags are bad, but can say the ones I have purchased were horrible.
