Well, since the world did not end (as some predicted~?) last evening, I will
rely on the following for any emergency situation:

a) West German .45 caliber SIG-SAUER P220A (stoked with W-W 185 grain
SilverTip HP's,

b) a Stoeger 12 gauge "Double Defense" shotgun (loaded with #6 shot),

c) a Remington 12 gague 870 "Marine Magnum" (loaded with #00 buckshot)

d) a Colt 16" Match Target Competition 5.56 with equipped with a Bushnell
HOLO-sight and 30 rd magazine full of military surplus M855,

and finally - e) a 6" Smith & Wesson model 19-5 (stoked with 125 grain
Speer Gold Dot HP's

which one?!

I'm going to read through this whole thread, but my quick-response, as I just found this thread:

Currently on my person, in a IWB holster is my beloved SW1911 .45acp. It was not my first S&W or semi-auto handgun, but it was my first NIB purchase, also my first gun-shop purchase to celebrate getting my license, and it was my first 1911. I'd wanted a 1911 since before I was old enough to drive, so when I knew I was getting my carry license soon I went shopping for the right one. It was love at first sight, I'd shot many different 1911s by that time, but I had never seen one quite so purdy, and I later found out it is ltd edition of 230. it is my most reliable semi-auto by far, and my only .45acp at this time. I've carried it almost every day with very few exceptions since I bought it :)

(I also really enjoy using it at the range with the Kimber .22 conversion kit)

but,

also within reach, -and unless I lean forward is actually easier/quicker to grab than the 1911 I'm wearing at the moment- is my S&W 629-2. Once upon a time when I was making more money I bought a Wildey Survivor in .45 win-mag. Over three years or so I shot just about two boxes through it, but lately my budget has diminished. I decided to post the Wildey for trade considerations in another forum, and eventually happily traded it for just shy of $1000 and my 629-2 'Mountain Revolver' which at the time showed absolutely no signs of being fired (I suspect it was indeed fired before me, but by someone who took serious care to preserve the gun). It is still in impeccable condition, but I have since had some practice with it :) i am really impressed with this revolver, have no regrets about that trade, and will never sell it!

"The Wiry Irishman

I have four guns equidistant from me - A S&W 64 and 629 and SVI 2011 I've been been doing dry fire practice with, and a loaded Mossberg 590 Mariner in case something comes crashing through my door to do live fire practice with me."

and the 2nd photo from post #122:
