Which of your guns would you most trust to work right now?

SAR-1 or S&W 3913. The SAR has never failed even once. The S&W has failed only once, on a defective Wal-Mart white box target round that apparently had no priming compound in the primer cup.

Any of my 1911's, or my newly aquired Beretta 92FS. Of course the Taurus 605 certainly has never failed to fire but it is a revolver...jury is still out on the Uzi although that is because I have to hit the range with it for a full day or two for it to proove itself.

If i had to pick up ANY gun i own and defend myself and be sure it functioned 100%:

Saiga 12

If i had to defend myself and have it concealed prior to the attack:

Colt Mustang .380 Pocketlite

Glock 19, AK-74, SKS, Mossberg 500 12 ga for starters... I don't own any unreliable guns. If I can't get them to work shortly after acquiring them, they're gone. Either returned or traded/sold off.

9-mm Pistols, my CZ 75B.

I've been working up 9-mm Luger loads for my three 9-mm pistols before running a large batch...CZ 75B, Springfield XD 9, and Taurus clone of the Beretta service pistol. The heavier the slide, the more power the pistol requires to operate reliably. The CZ is by far the best...requires less power, has never failed to feed and eject reliably. The CZ is conpletely reliable using 3.5-gr of W231 behind a 124-gr bullet...the XD is still somewhat unreliable with 4.0 grains. Haven't tried with the Taurus yet...

I only have one .40...a CZ-75B that has been completely reliable with factory loads and 155-gr swcl handloads.

.45 Auto, I've had five...a Norinco, an Auto Ordnance(?) long-slide, an EAA custom shop job with compensator, a Kimber, a Colt 1911. The Norinco has been by far the most reliable and versatile, and is extremely accurate, digesting everything from my favorite 185-gr SWC target loads up through 230-gr hardball. All of the others have been rather "picky" with certain bullet types and weights. Have gotten rid of the Kimber, the Colt, and the longslide, and bought a second Norinco, which is in storage.

I want to say all of them. But I have to say only 4 of them (Glock, M1 Carbine, Taurus Judge, and Franchi 912). All the other ones remain unloaded until I decide to take them out to play.

Functionally, all but one are ready to go. That one being an original Springfield musket from the War of Northern Aggression Era.

Rimfires are out. My Para is out (rusts real easy, its in a zip-lock bag with CLP)

I'd trust all my others.

As far as pistols, it would either be my carry 1911 or my beater G19. For longarms it would be either my 9mm or 5.56 AR. The rest are locked up.

My trusty S&W Model 39 9mm auto. I have had it since 1981, longer than I have had my wife and far less maintenance.

To continue from above post #116:

.22 pistols...I've had eight. I like fast 2nd shot capability, which knocks out my SA revolvers, so I have to say my CZ-75B with a CZ .22 conversion. Digests all ,22 LR cartridges reliably...but isn't designed to remain upen after the last shot, thereby preventing fast use after a speed magazine change. After that would come my old High Standard Military...but that's larger and heavier and doesn't feel as good in the hand as the CZ.

Rifles: I like fast second shot capability, which knocks out my bolt actions (the fastest of which is my 6.5 x 55 Swede, which cocks on opening and can be operated very swiftly on repeat shots, considerably faster than my other bolt rifles). Both of my semi-autos are completely reliable...the SKS and M1A. Both are more enjoyable to shoot than my equally reliable .30 Carbine.

Shotguns: Considering fast multi-shot capability, my semi-auto Verona and Browning 12-guage shotguns. (I just don't care for pumps, though they should be more durable under dirty conditions.)
