A Quarter of a million rounds in that one engagement? Where did you find this "fact"?

Marlin 336 or Win 96 in good old 30/30. Go to Wally World when they have the end of the hunting season sale , buy the rifle cheap, and stockup with at least 200 to 300 rounds (also on sale) of good stuff (Rem 150gr corelocks). That would make a great civil defence weapon (ever heard of battle field pickups ) untill something else turns up .

Bolt-action's have a SEVERE disadvantage in what I call," Critical Combat conditions". That would roughly translate to,"Oh S***!!!!;This guy is right on top of me!!",distances. Especially if you miss with the first shot
