Red Jacket

I think a lot of the critics of the show wouldn't mind it if the premise was just, "Red Jacket builds AKs to pay the bills, but in our free time we like to dream up neat guns and try to build them." What bugs me and many others is the obviously phony customers like the Afghanistan private military contractor or the guy from the "navy." Why do the producers have to create these fake buyers and the absurd deadlines?

Because it creates controversy and people talk about it. That brings interest and more viewers. We don't need fewer firearms shows we need more, no matter how inane some people think they are. More interest, more gun sales, more rights retained. IMHO.

so watching the new one tonight they show a scene from the next episode.

They are mounting a Taser to a 12guage shotgun.

The BART officer that shot and killed a man thought he was using his taser when the mistake happened correct? I believe thats what happened....

now they are going to join them!?! This is going to be a disaster. Sounds like an awful idea.

I agree 100% that it is just a TV show, and doesn't deserve any serious consideretion...

What DOES deserve consideration is 'Wills' off-putting jack-hole attitude that turns people away from firearms. Intentionally frightening people who are legitimatley interested in self defence helps NOBODY.

IIRC doesn't taser make a 12 gauge round that is a sel contained taser that can be fired from a standard 12 gauge shotgun. Thought I saw it on Future Weapons.

It's a copy or American Chopper with guns. I said it when it first came out, now they are joining forces. It's like when superman and Batman, joined up. They are so far form a DOD contractor that anyone with experience working as a subcontractor knows it's a bunch of hooey. Youi don't make one gun and take it to the park, then get a 100 million dollar contract. it's just a misleading ego trip for red jacket, take it for what it is. when he measured a 1/1000 of an inch by eye, I couldn't controll myself, and the holes for the self tapping screws for the uzi, please. Just wake me when it's over. It's really downhill from here, they are out of ideas and now anything goes. Get ready for a cuisanart that fires heat seeking missles while making sauce.

They'll come up with something for Billy the Exterminator. A game changer that will revolutionize the industry. Maybe something that sprays pressurized napalm from a tank you wear on your back and an igniter in the nozzle.

<crosses arms & gives hard stare>

"This will change everything!"

The problem that I have with the show is that it convinces every anti-gun freak that I meet that you can walk into your local gun shop and walk out with a 1919 Browning. Very little mention is made that these rednecks are toying around with highly regulated class III weapons and destructive devices.

Ever try to explain the NFA to an anti-gunner?

I thought it was funny that they did all the work on the Uzi and then slapped a $30 Wal-Mart special Tasco red dot sight on it.

I DVR the show because I like seeing them shoot the guns at the end. Most of the talking during the show bores me.

Yeah I thought the tasco red dot on the uzi was a little odd. I figured they would of used something a little higher in price.

Also mind you that Will does not much control over what Discovery films or doesn't. Discovery is there to make money on a show. So what you see a lot of the times is whatever the producer of the show and not Red Jacket themselves. On some other forums I frequent Red Jacket themselves said they would do things differently if they could.

They have free will to take the money of the producers and be in the show or not to do that.

Yeah, they would do it differently all the way to the bank.

Maybe they can design the gun in the hat that I saw in some books about old self-defense gimmick guns. A hat mounted AK would really put them in business.

Is it me or did he have trouble mounting a stock on that uzi, they definatelly had to fix it to finish, and maybe weld the bracket on. How can you screw that up if you are a fabricator. Starting to suspect that more than we know goes on of camera that others are involved with, you can't be an expert in everything. And how does anyone see 1/1000 of an inch without proper tools, having been a supcontractor, it doesn't work that way.You can't eyeball something that precise.

You can feel 0.001" difference. At work we leave 0.0002" for clamp on our die sections and you can feel it also by running your finger over the edge to see if its flush.

Most of the time they are acting, and very poorly. All we see is staged, they spend as much time playing out these mock scenarios as they do working on firearms. It's television. At times it is humorously inept ( Desert Eagle/Beretta ) I have seen a couple if interesting things but I have since lost interest in the show and just flip over it now with little/no interest.

go to 1:30, you will see she's holding a DE and then fires what was probably a .40 caliber and shutters like OOOOOoooooo look at the power

On other sites the Nancy Drews are acting like this is some kind of super-mystery, conspiracy theory that's solved. Oh great and high drama, editors screwed up, they missed a shot, a mistake was made, let us all run hysterically around the maypole.

Did they add a butt stock to the Desert Eagle? Would that make it a short barrelled rifle like adding a butt stock to an AR pistol?

Too funny I have never heard that saying before, but it does paint a pretty picture,
let us all run hysterically around the maypole
I will have to use that, this site has some good one liners

I just see it as someone being observant and poking fun, why did that bother you so much?? You got a crush on her?

The other day I saw an episode in which someone wanted to have them build a knife that propels/shoots the blade. They told the guy that unless it can be deamed an AOW (any other weapon), which means it must propel the blade by use of black powder, it would be illegal according to federal law. I live in Az. and according to expert counsel we can legally buy, use, own, and carry any knife of any size or type, including switch blades, and yes, propeled blades regardless of what mechanism is used to propel the blade, spring or other wise.
I watch the show now and then but I don't think the host is 100% with his advice and knowledge of federal laws. In that respect, I trust my advisor who is a lawyer that practices exclusively in firearm related matters at every level.
