I feel so inadequate. Here's my one and only handgun, my dad's Model 17 which he bought new in the late 50s. It's got its share of wear and tear, but no matter how many more I collect, this one will obviously always be my favorite.

No reason to feel inadequate. If you only have 1 handgun, that is a great one to have.
#1 it was your dad's.
#2 it is truly an heirloom quality piece even without the connection to your dad.
Hopefully future generations can add to its story.

The only gun my Father ever owned was a Winchester Model 67 22 that I paid about $3.00 for and gave to him. He did a lot of gophers in with it over the decades as they tried to eat his garden. I brought it home after he died but never shoot it. The other gun I'll never forget is an old 303 British I won in a card game someone used to cover a $7.00 bet. I gave it to my only living brother and he shot a lot of deer with it. My sons will have to fight over my old Ruger Blackhawk.

If you could only have 1, thats a good one to have.

A shooter would have to look far & wide to find a more versatile handgun...S&W's model 19...and a good Tom Threepersons OWB holster to tote it in....My work on both holsters, BTW...Rod

Or maybe add a Smith model 18 in .22 LR for some cheaper, but every bit as accurate, practice.
