Ripped off by cheaperthandirt

I have found that "cheaperthandirt" is usually "waymoreexpensivethandirt" by a good margin.

Ammoman.com has much better prices than CTD on ammo, but he doesn't have nearly as good a selection.

Doesn't sound like they 'ripped you off', rather, it sounds like they made a big screw up and are in the process of rectifying it.

Had they taken your money and never sent you anything without refunding your money or filling your order, then they would have ripped you off.

You pay for what you get.

Don't forget to load up on DRT (dead right there) ammo, ;) four years in development at military proofing grounds. :D

CTD, I have had acceptable experiences with them, and most recently sent back some items. They prepay return shipping on items you don't want and had no problems.

I haven't purchased any ammo from them in a couple of years.

I live in CTD's home town (Fort Worth), and I never go there.

(Yes, I know their retail and mail order divisions are separate, but they have a lot in common--a lot of high prices, that is.)

CTD seems ok. More expensive than other places but I managed to find a DPMS Ultimate Repair Kit there while everywhere else is sold out.

For ammo, I'd try other places starting with natchezss.com or look at gun-deals.com.

I've made several orders with CTD in the past, and all have arrived just as ordered. But in recent months, their prices (and shipping) have gotten radically higher.

I simply can't afford to do business with those guys any more. I wonder if they have seen a decrease in volume as others have been turned away by their climbing prices.

Update: The customer service rep did call me back and resolved the issue fairly by refunding most of my money.

Something new: I mentioned that I ordered ammo and CTD sent me something completely different. OK, what I ordered was .45 and .32 and they sent me one box of 9mm instead - Fiocchi 9mm 115grs. FMJ. I'd never used this before so I just did a search on it to see what it is. Turns out that there was a recall on this very ammo a couple of years ago, for squib loads I believe. I found the recall lot numbers on some places online, and I see a lot number on the inside flap of my box. Some of the numbers are unclear but the numbers on my box do not appear to be the same as the recall numbers listed on the websites I found.

Does anyone know if Fiocchi 9mm 115gr FMJ is safe to use? I'll call Fiocchi - probably need to wait til Monday.

We should all boycott CTD, because there ammo prices reflect the panic pricing!! We should at least e-mail them to voice our anger about the gouging. I did!!

I ordered from them several times in the past without a hitch. Now Im noticing the prices are generally higher than other places. They do have a few deals but its hardly ever on anything I need, and usually just tack it on to a different order somewhere else paying a few more bucks, but its saves a separate shipping charge.

I don't buy ammunition from CTD because I find AmmoMan.com to be cheaper.

However, CTD has great deals on cheap MOLLE gear and some military surplus. They have some great $5 rifle slings. When they send you something defective (which does sometimes happen with cheap stuff) they will make it right with a prepaid shipping label.

Also, they have really good deals on all sorts of small items. They have lots of cheap gun cleaning equipment and lots of cool little survival-gear-type stuff.

Higher-priced items don't offer much of a savings but gun accessories like OEM magazines, optics, and spare parts are usually at least competitive with other online retailers.
