I just got mine, so can't say for the year, but I put 100 rounds through while trying it out before the purchase, am putting about 200 today and will likely put btwn 100-200 a month after this.
My little sp101 averages about 10,000 per year. Some others only see 1-2000.
Before anyone flips out: No I'm not kidding on the sp101. 10,000/52 weeks=192.3 rounds per week. Some weeks I'm zero. Some weekend trips I'll do 500 or more.
Reloading is a wonderful money saver!
Anyone here who is dedicated enough to shoot a match every month, and practice a couple times every month will post numbers that will make you just !
I've had my XD9 for about a month now and I have a little over 1500 rounds through it. I imagine it'll taper down a bit as I get over the initial "honeymoon" with it, but goddamn, shooting it is fun.
I'll shoot about 500 per month on average, about 6000 rounds per year....I use to shoot more but that seems like a good number to keep in decent practice. Anyway, per handgun I would think a few hundred each per handgun - my USPs & my 1911s see the majority of those rounds tho
Well if my reloading logs are right, .38 and .357 mag were almost 10000. .45 acp was 7000. .44 mag right at 2500. .308 win 6000. .22 long rifle, a truck load. 12 GA slugs, buck and shot shells all commercial another truck load. That was mostly me but my wife and brother helped some.
My range pistols average around 3600 rounds/year. Not every pistol that I own is a range pistol; I usually have a 'range only' pistol of the same type as I carry. My carry pistols see far less use; maybe 600 rounds per year.
I shoot about 3,000-5,000 through my carry gun every year. "Fun" guns get about half that, except the AR, which sems to eat ammo a lot faster than I ever expect it to. Must be the whole 30rd mag and semi-auto thing going on there.
From a few hundred to 1500 per gun gun. 7257 rounds total. My CCW get 400-500 a year except for my Seecamp which just gets a few dozen mags per year (to cycle through them). Fun range guns get the most use.
- my CCW S&W 642 at about 1000 rounds per year
- my S&W K-22 at about 8000 rounds per year
My other 3 guns see about 3000 rounds a year divided between them, from most to least: S&W 686, Springer XD9, S&W Model 14.
Of course when I start handloading I don't expect to save any money, I just expect to see the round count for everything but the K-22 more than double .
I usually take several handguns to shoot with on any given day. A typical day of late consists of shooting about 50 rounds of 38spl, 30-50 rounds of 357 mag or 30-50 rounds of 41 mag, and 50 rounds of 40 S&W. On rare occasions, I'll shoot 100 rounds of a particular caliber and that is when I'm shooting with someone. The 22's get shot more, but that is typical.
I shoot more rounds in pistols than revolvers. Compared to most of you, I don't shoot much; but I hit just fine. I do very little tactical shooting. I rarely shoot for more than an hour unless I'm plinking in the woods. I don't keep track on a yearly basis.
CZ SP-01: Competitive shooter: has around 2K rounds since 12/24/06
CZ 75B: Wife's Competitive shooter: has around 1K rounds since 1/4/07
CZ 40B: Carry Pistol, approx 200rnds per month
Ruger SP101: Carry Pistol, approx 200rnds per month
Walther P22: Daughter's plinker, approx 400rnds per month
Then a few others that just sit in the safe getting a 100rnds ever month or two for fun.
