I'll be asking folks on the AK-47.net forum as well, but I wanted your opinions. If given the choice to own only one of the two, which would it be?

Saiga Ak-47 (7.62x39) or the Yugo M70 (7.62x39)?

I know many people have had issues with CAI but my experiences on the other hand have been great. I've had a WASR 10 for about 5 years, not one problem. I also just recently got a CAI Polish Tantal and its been great as well. Extremely accurate. I would say both are extreemely releiable, and for what I paid for my AK's, it beats any other. I'm so thankful I did that instead of paying twice as much for a arsenal sgl. Anyways, that my 2 cents.

Owned a Yugo M70. Nice gun. Traded it. I prefer a chrome-lined barre. That's me. I'd get a Chinese, pay-once-cry-once for an Arsenal, or pray for a $400 WASR.

I'm curious why people prefer the Yugo's. Not doubting, I just don't know what they can improve on over the Saiga.

With my experiences, Saiga, hands down.

Saiga with it's chrome chamber and bore...

Then you can shoot the corrosive Yugo ammo without much concern as long as you clean it. I have seen a few non-chrome lined AK barrels that looked like sewer pipes.

Good luck

Either or would be a good rifle. I had chances to shoot both and I like both. They cycle smooth and shoot well. Plus a Saiga would have more caliber options...

Love my Yugo, but I will say Yugos are heavier than other AKs and the handguards are different than most AKs so if your plan is to add some accessories the Saiga will probably be more versatile.
