scariest moment of my life

Well the logical answer is if the gun was fine, then you most likely messed up..somehow, dont know how but unless there is magic involved someone or something did not work right.

I would never carry a firearm that i could not trust (if i had a choice)and i doubt you will trust it no matter what they say. Humans are good that way.

If you could trust it keep it with a different holster.

I am not looking down at you or anything so please dont take it that way, we all make mistakes, if you are the one that caused it.

I don't get how a retraining strap is at risk of causing problems, please explain in more detail

Retaining straps are a common cause of Glock (and other guns without an external safety) NDs. The thumb-break snap slips into the trigger guard and if the extra resistance is not noted, can "pull" the trigger as the gun is inserted into the holster.

There have been several recalls on various Fobus holsters don't know if the Ruger models were among them or not.

Not to mention the firing pin safety that blocks the firing pin unless the trigger is at the full rear position
That's the problem with these, if FOD pulls the trigger, they can't tell it wasn't you doing it intensionally! Cocked and locked may be "scary" to a lot of folks, but I prefer it, as when the safety is on, pulling the trigger don't work.
