IF the smell of a farm bothers you, then you are probably better off staying where you are.

The last thing those of us that have farms need, is another person moving in and complaining about the smell from the farms, that puts YOUR milk and other food, on YOUR table.

I joked to my nephew inlaw. What's that smell?
Answer = money. At least to the farmer.

It aint my farm and I wouldn't want to live right across the street from it. If that hurts your feelings too bad.

drobs: It's just that there are lots of idiots who move next to a farm then complain about the smell. Then follow up the complaints with lawsuits that end up costing the farmer so much money he has to shut down.

drobs,
Cow farms are nothing compared to a chicken farm on a hot day(that’s a stink).
If you move up by Grand Haven, we’ll have to get together and go shooting, I live about 1/2 hour away from there.

It doesn't hurt my feelings at all... Why would it??

We do just fine out here without the townie whiners moving in and causing problems with our family farming traditions. Kaeto nailed it!!

I live in cattle country now - the cattle are free **** where they please. My neighbors cattle are frequently in my back field. They are not penned up in a barn 24/7/365. You can keep your traditions and your attitude.

The smell complaints remind me of the Michigan Sugar plant in Bay City, MI that was built in 1901. It doesn't generate a nice smell, but folks still move in near by today, then complain incessantly about said smell. Sugar has been one of the biggest industries in the Bay City area for coming on a century and a half. It pays the bills and their is a huge demand for the sugar. oh yeah, and you can use the sugar in place of charcoal in your Black Powder recipe if you want. What's not to love!

Thank you, I will...

Raise on a farm, cleaned the hindquarter off a dozen cows, that had spent the night is stanchions, each morning and milked them before going off to school. One could tell the farm kids by the smell of their hands and the crap on their boots. The pig pens, the chicken coop, yep poop smells no matter the source. Left that at 19, never went back. ;)

raised on a farm, the smells don,t bother me, but the big hog farms are another thing. when you live down wind on a hot day it will gag a maggot.

I also was raised on a dairy farm in N/E Wisconsin believe me I did become accustomed to the smell of the dairy. Did a lot of BP hunting in that area, as well as UP Michigan.
