September Rimfire Match 2008

score is 29
9/10 in black, 4 can be covered
Shot with a Savage Mark II G (bolt action)
with Bushnell scope 3x-9x (set to 6x)
Remington .22lr thunderbolt

I made the poor javalina an eye and a smile :D, where are my bonus points?

Looks like I can open up the single shot boys rifle category. The gun that shot this piggy is my first rifle, a Remington 514. Factory open sights, CCI Blazer ammo. I can cover three shots with a quarter from that bunch in the chest, and there are eight hits total including that line clipper by the tail, so this one looks like a 23.

This regular printer paper doesn't make much of a target. I shot a couple more with the 10/22, and got some improved groups over my first post, but can't really score them because the paper ripped. I printed some on heavy photo paper, and will see how that works for scoring.

Awesome guys! keep em coming. I like the facial feature bonus idea.

We now have an official International entry leader and scoped bolt leader with Charles' posting. Jubjub's got us started and is leading a single shot class. Looks like he's adding some anatomical details too ;)

This is turning out to be a tougher match than I expected. A couple of pards out at the range wouldn't even submit their targets due to lack of critter ventilation or double digit scoring.

I got out with the Remington 511 this weekend and realized how poor my offhand shooting is. However, I improved drastically enough from the first to the last (about 7) target, that I think I can get something respectable with a few more weeks practice. (I went from 3+5 to 8+15, but wait'll next time! I'll try to get it scanned.)

Also, If I'm ever shooting at you with a .22 pistol offhand...you're safe. I've GOT to try the 22/45 again, at least until I can get them all on the paper, nevermind the little piggy!

Yeah this is definitely a bummer challenge, the target i posted was my second attempt. After those 20 bullets i was a bit disapointed so i borrowed someone's boresighter and oh man was my scope EVEN WORSE i had a 5 shtos group in a 1½ inch diameter or so but about 6 inches from where i was aiming

from there i tried to re-align the scope manually but frustration took over and i couldn't score any higher, i think i used like 12 other targets before calling it quits and switched to some higher caliber shooting

and by the way the boresighter i used was the bushnell going for like 20-25 bucks in store (the one that goes into the canon)

Finally got my targets printed and gave it a go.

The rifle: CZ 452 Lux with Lyman peep sight.

CZwithLyman25yd.jpg

My last group of 4. Had 7 hits on the first and gained 1 hit with each target. Score: 10 + 20. Hope it's allowed but the rear sight is too tall to zero till I work on the front sight. So I aimed at the lower piggy to hit the upper one.

This was a bit unnerving but good practice.

Okay, I finally got to a scanner. Believe it or not, I'm kinda happy with this. I really need to practice my offhand.
Anway,

Red Tornado
9 + 15 = 24
Remington 511/stock sights (U-notch and bead)/bolt action
.22 LR Remington Golden Bullet

I'll get out again this month and try to improve that score. I may try something scoped.

This is my wife... and I can guarantee this is probably a fluke even though she is a great shot. But I promise next weekend will get her to do it correctly.

Afy: There is 100m written on the target. If she shot it at 100 meters, get her back out there and shoot it at 25 yds. She'll be the winner of this shoot for sure. Good shooting, Flyrodder

Ok, First picture is according to the rules. I didnt do all that well with offhand. However, I dont do offhand shots at squirrels heads unless they are really close, like less than 10yds or so. As I ease through the woods I always stop with a tree in front of me to brace off of. Second target is "squirrel huntin style" at 30 yds braced, (closest tree). Ill try to improve my offhand shooting also.

Ruger 10/22
Volquartsen barrel
Hogue overmolded stock
Leupold 4.5-14 with custom reticle (set at 5x)
SK Std+

Woops, forgot to rotate before scanning, sorry.

This is an infuriating target to shoot, and I was unable to get good results with my rear aperture and front globe since the only insert I have (lost the others) is a 3.2mm globe. I will try to find the post style insert to shoot this with iron sights too, the globe style sight is worthless for this kind of shooting.

So instead I mounted my 2.5-8X36 Leupold VX-III, and shot that instead. The rifle is a Kimber Model 82 Government. 25" heavy target barrel. Ammo is CCI 40gr standard velocity.

Even more infuriating is the fact that I can't seem to get the photo file to upload since it is too large.

Finally got the images compressed enough.

10 hits.

7 covered by the quarter.

45 total points.

I think I can do better, I'll keep practicing.

T/C G2 w/ 23" Factory .22 LR barrel
Swift 4x12 AO
Wolf Match Target

25 yds offhand

Thank goodness for that long snout on the pig.

Shot this again today with Win 75. Didn't do better, but no worse either. I still have another weekend in Sept so I haven't given up.

Good shooting Coal Dragger.

ETA: Welcome to THR sandwg.

Still a 35, same as last time.

WOW

Hi Mo,
I really think you hit the jackpot on this one! Just tell 'em it may be too hard. Great response and over a week to go. Only have the Skinner on the M39 but am going to try one more time. Put a red dot on my new Buck Mark but that was comical with my ET's. Even on the M39 that dot almost gives me vertigo:barf: using the John Wayne or Jimmie Stewart stance. So it is iron or nuttin, honey.;)

Got the Wifey to shoot at 25 meters... not a happy camper once she learned that I am posting her targets online. She doesnt think she shoots well.

Well here are the results at 25 meters:

IMGP0347.jpg

and this is the official entry I think..

Afy: Your wife is a great shot. Granted they arn't in one hole(LOL), but they almost are. Those two targets are awesome. And she shot at 25 METERS.

Flyrodder

If she puts her mind to it, I for one believe she can do much better than this with iron sights. But then what do I know.

She doesnt think she shoots well.

Yes, she is aweful. Didn't even get the 100 pt. bonus. LOL. Is she a competition shooter or did she develope those skills through plinking?

Either way, I believe I am falling for her. ;)

Plinky she just plinks. Likes to shoot at empty shotgun cases at 100-110 meters. No coaching nothing. I only showed her how to load the magazine and use the sights.
I am trying to get her to start competing because I do believe she has the potential.
