Serious question ... How many is too many?

It depends on your reason for owning them, I for example bought what I felt I needed and a couple extra. From there I started swapping this for that and that for those.

But for me it's a hobby and in reality I can take them to town and double my cash. So it's a savings account also:)

If anyone is interested in my take on the question, I start with the "guns are tools premise". I seek to fit a proper tool for each application that I either currently practice, want to, or might. Then there comes the pieces with "sentimental attachment". They have a hallowed space outside the "tool box".

There is then the "guns as art" category that beauty, exquisite execution or historically significant design can attain. Stopping here, that's 3 significant and distinct categories vying for my "gun dollars". Following this logic, if I exercise personal financial discipline in each category, I will end up with only 3 times the number of guns I can actually afford.

Anyone that wants to buy my book on self improvement through financial planning can PM me. The book price will depend on which category I am fulfilling at the moment.:D

P.S. The "fear the man with one gun" idea has some merit. He is really pissed off that you can have so many!

rswartsell,

I like the way you think. Can I order one of your books on account?

I promise to pay you with all the money I save from using the methods
you teach.:)

Cheers

You only have "too many" if they become a problem in some way.

If you have the disposable income and want to spend it on guns, then it's all good.
If you cant keep the lights on because of your gun buying, then you have too many!

You are the only one that can decide if you have "too many", whether it is of the same type, caliber, color or whatever. If you don't have a problem with your collection then you are fine.

I would have to know you better to give you a real answer. But it's all relative. As long as you aren't the guy that buys the new corvette and has no place to live. If your life is in balance, and you and those who you are responsible for, hurt for nothing, you can pretty well do anything you darn well please. Other than that , it's just other peoples opinions. Which really matter very little as long as you are happy and take care of the important things first, like food clothing and shelter, who is anyone to judge you?
