Shooting Blackpowder and Smokeless Ammo out of same pistol, same day.

Get em Hawg! Pyrodex was one of the first bp subs, it was advertised as doing everything that bp would including make large amounts of smoke. The claim to fame was it wasn't classified as an explosive. Then the plant blew up and burnt to the ground.

There's been several explosions at the Goex plant. I may be wrong but I don't think any of them were Pyrodex related. Pyrodex still isn't classified as an explosive.

Pyrodex plant went in the late 70s as I recall. Just when folks were really getting along good with the stuff. It opened up access to muzzleloaders that had difficulty getting bp due the hazmat bs.

There is a old story here that I believe true. Back in the 70's they were testing pyrodex up on Tiger mountian Wa. They blew off part of the top ten feet and two people lost their lives.

No it's not. Chemically Pyrodex is the closest sub to real bp that you can get.
Are you really sure of that statement????
If it swims like a duck and walks like a duck and talks like a duck. I would call it a DUCK. Pyrodex has changed it formulation several times since invented in 1977. And if you look up the definition of "Smokeless Powder" you will find that Pryrodex meets the definition. According to the Hodgden 2012 Material Data Safety Sheet, Pyrodex is comprised of Potassium Nitrate, Sodium Nitrate and Potassium Perchlorate and it's auto ignition temperature is 750 degrees. That doesn't sound very black powder(ish). And it is labeled for and shipped over the road the same as 1.3 category - Smokeless Powder.
