Thanks Arctic Assault
It's been a labor of love, but I am thrilled at how it came out.
Yep. It's a 308.
My set up is:
-EAA imported Saiga 308, 16" barrel, bought preconverted.
-Tapco G2 Trigger group (proabably will be replaced with a RSA adjustible trigger)
-DSA PSG1 style pistol grip made for AK
-Ace 9.5" non-folding Skeleton stock, with 1" recoil pad, Ace cheek rest, and Ace internal receiver block. This setup gives me the exact length of a NATO length K-Var stock.
-Dragunov Flash supressor (I've got slant brake and AK-74 style as well)
-FBMG 20 round magazines (I have a 10 round modified as well)
- 8 Power PSOP side rail scope with 1,000 meter rangefinder (calibrated to 7.62X54R) and illumitated recticle.
- Front sight base was moved to have barrel threaded. I had the barrel threaded by a machinist who was able to turn it down and thread it WITHOUT having to push off the barrel. He turned the entire rifle in a lathe. This prevented the risk of having groups open up, as I have heard has happened after pushing and reseating barrels.
- New coat of Black Oxide Duracoat baked on. I've done it without baking and I can tell you baking for 1 hour at 110 degrees makes a HUGE difference in the durability of the coating. I'm considering playing with some other colors later. I am SO tempted to make it Uzi green with black furniture and black bolt carrier.
She's doing approximately 1 MOA 100 yard shots at the moment. I will be range testing it at longer ranges soon.
Currently, I am spending some time working on a Finnish M28/30 Mosin Nagant I picked up. And I'll be doing a screw build Romanian AK soon.
