The Israeli military may be tough, but they don't universally have giant hands. Although the Desert Eagle is made by Israel Weapons Industries (IWI), formerly Israel Military Industries Ltd. (IMI), it is not one of the weapons issued to the IDF. The Jericho 941 ("Baby Eagle") is one weapon used by the IDF, RENEA (Albanian counter-terrorism unit), and ROKASWC (South Korean Special Warfare Command); however, it is not the primary military handgun in use in Israel, Albania, or South Korea.
1911-style pistols are still in limited use in the US military, but the standard issue handgun is now the Beretta M9/92FS. The situation between the Glocks and the Jericho is probably similar in Israel. They issue Glocks to most personnel who require a handgun, and the Jericho is issued in a limited fashion.
