SigPro good choice for CC?

I've been contemplating purchasing a Sig Pro 2022 in 9mm for carry. I am interested in hearing opinions of Sig Pro owners, and those who carry it, or have tried carrying it. Thanks in advance.

I had my Sigpro 2022 for awhile. It had night sight's and 15 round mag's. I loved it but i loved my new Remington more. It was a great gun and had a great feel. Loaded i think it was right about 42oz. I think it was good gun for carry.

I owned a sigpro 2009. It was completely reliable and very accurate, which are important factors in a CCW. However, 2 things were going against it: 1. lack of holster selection, 2. a bit too big when compared to , say, a Glock 19.

Not for me, the one I owned briefly was just too big and blocky to consider shoving it in my pants.

If you are set on a Sig, i'd look for a used P239 or maybe a P228/229. Otherwise, something like a Glock 19/23/32 or a Kahr would be easier to conceal.

I was comtemplating a SigPro for awhile as well. I did a lot of researching on them and it was tough to find anything negative about them. They were often referred to as one of the most underrated/unknown handguns out there. Through, after all of my research I still ended up getting a CPO 'certified preowned' Sig P226 for around $550 to my door that looks brand new. As others have mentioned the SigPro is a chunky gun. If I was going to CCW one I'd get the p228 or p229.

Those were issued to a department here. Terrible triggers, magazines that came apart when they hit the ground, and the slide lock would fall out while you were shooting it. What a piece of junk! Why SIG would build that when they can build 220s, 226s, 228s, 229s etc. is beyond me.

Phil, you seemed to have posted similar problems with Glock magazines.

Maybe you just need softer ground?

My Sig Pro is my main carry at the moment. The colder it gets, the more the P220 is finding its way onto my hip. I want something a little smaller than the Sig Pro for next summer and those super hot days, but it has never been a problem for carry. I have several holsters for it, but my favorite things to carry it in are a Bianchi IWB or OWB, or a bellyband... Recently I seem to be putting everything in a bellyband because it's just so versatile. I love the Sig Pro, it's a very good shooter, stone cold reliable and an excellent weapon. Everything you need in a carry weapon, but because of it's size (thickness rather than length) it's not the end-all-be-all carry gun.

As far as Phil DeGraves' post, that's the only negative thing I've heard about the Sig Pro from anyone. As much as I try not to disagree with people's opinions on guns (it's all so objective, you know?) I have to disagree about the trigger! The Sig Pro has a noticeably lighter and better DA trigger pull than my P220 or any other P series Sig I've fired (everything but the P232). Could be that mine is the SP 2340 (predecessor to the 2022 and 2009), but I doubt it. Others I know with the newer Sig Pro's feel the same way about the trigger, and I've successfully converted 2 Glockheads with it.

Until I find a good rig for my S&W 19, the 2009 is my carry piece. Good trigger, great accuracy and light enough not to be bothersome. My mags haven't busted yet so I'm lucky I guess.
Oh, BTW, I carry it in a Blackhawk IWB which is a sturdy rig.

And Beretta mags too. The Beretta floorplates shatter. The Glock locking plate breaks off inside the magazine so you have a loose piece of plastic that jams up the mag. The SIG 2340 mags (not so much on the other SIG guns), the floorplate comes off; then you have to find the pieces and put it back together. To be fair, the 2340s that we had were DAO (not DAK) and were horrible. Maybe the DA/SA triggers were better. I wouldn't doubt it. Nothing could have been worse. And to answer the question, it is an indoor range with a cement floor.

It pains me, but I'm selling my SIGpro 2340 tomorrow. I'm pained because it's the best shooting .40 I own. I actually took my Glock 23 and Sigpro to the range and shot them side by side on different targets, and the SIGpro shot groups 1/4 the size of the glock 23. In my opinion, the Sigpro is the best way to get a SIG trigger in an affordable package.

Basically, I don't think you can go wrong with a Sigpro. My only beef is that even though the slide is blackened stainless, the mags are carbon steel. I had a heck of a time keeping rust splotches off of them. I finally got some anti rust paper and wrapped the magazines with them while it sat in my safe.

The only reason I'm selling my Sigpro is that I've decided to get out of shooting .40. I found a guy with cash money willing to buy it, so tomorrow it goes. The G23 will follow in not too long. The money will go toward something a little more interesting, perhaps an M1A.

I have used the SIG Pro extensively for CCW since I got it nearly three years ago, and I love it. I carry it in a CompTac Gurkha, and this rig carries and disappears VERY well. As for the gun, I love it, and will NEVER part with it. It IS a bit bulky for having a shorter barrel and the same magazine capacity as my GLOCK 19 (which is what I carry mostly now), but I prefer shooting it to the GLOCK.

Hey, if you like the SigPro that much, why not replace the 2340 with a SigPro 2009 or the new model in 9mm. 2009s are having a hard time moving right now. I guess everyone wants the new model with the rail. So it may be possible to find a good price on a new one or a CPO.

I have both the 2009 and 2340, I don't carry them b/c my Glock 19 or 23 are more efficient sizewise, but the Sigs are more fun to shoot. For me, anyway.
