I completed my first slug reloads last night and went to the range today and with great results I will never buy a commercial loaded slug again. Thanks to Ballistic Products Inc. I purchased Rio hulls and LBC Sabot slugs. My recipe for these were as follows:

Rio Hulls
Rio 209 primers
LBC Sabot slugs
19.1 grns Clays
8 point crimp [not rolled]

At 50 yards I clover leafed the bullseye. For those of you who reload shotshells but never reloaded slugs I would suggest you give it a try. JMHO.

I need to revisit my slug making attempts. I didn't have as good luck as you did. I bought a LEE 1oz slug mold and cast my own slugs. I then loaded in AA hulls with a AA wad and my cast slugs. the results were mediocre at best. Needless to say...I bought the expensive sabots to shoot again this season.
BTW the 2 3/4" winchester sabots do shoot good in my H&R slug gun.

i also use the 12 ga lee slug mould but in 7/8 oz.. when using 19 gr of red dot the accuracy out of a smooth bore is horrid.. using 35 gr of hs6 out of a rifled barrel has around 3 inch groups at a hundred yards for only 10 cents a pop! plus it boasts a quick speed of around 1800 fps..
