Small 9mm

PM9! I own it, and hope to own no other. :)

Okay, so I wouldn't turn down a Rohrbaugh, but there's no way soon or ever that I'm going to plunk down over a grand for a mouse gun...

Define "9mm" A CZ 83 fires 9mm browning (.380) A Makarov (or CZ82) fires 9mm short (9x18) any of the above would be a good option. Straight 9mm? (9X19) CZ RAMI

The Rohrbaugh is the top of the line in pocket 9mm handguns. I've handled and fired them, but don't own one.

My favorite is the Springfield XD-SC in 9mm. I have two of them, and my wife has one. Very accurate for their size.

Hope this helps.

Glock 26 in good old 9mm

Ruger LCP or Walther PPK in 380 (9mm)

East German Makarov in 9 Mak (9mm)

I have a Glock 26 and a Kahr PM9. The Glock is far and away a better gun...better built and a better design. I've had trouble with PM9's...cracked frame and jams. In the hands of my friend's wife, the PM9 tends to jam since she's not strong. Call it "sensitive" to limp-wristing...a really tight grip is required.

The one PM9 I have has been debugged...but I went into the purchase knowing that testing would be necessary. If you shoot correctly, do your maintenance, change out the springs according to the manual and use good ammo a PM9 should be just fine. It can also be a bit sensitive to dirt, so keep it clean. This current gun seems to resist crud better and is a later model than the two I had in the past.

But...the Glock 26/27/33 guns are better. I have found the G26's reliability to be excellent, even with Glock 19 and 17 magazines (with and without an A&G grip adapter). The gun isn't that much wider than a PM9. The Glock's is fine for belt carry, but a problem for pocket carry.

Smith and Wesson Military and Police 9c - 9mm compact. Same size as a .38 snubby...feels like a much bigger gun in your hand. Much better ergonomics than the baby Glock IMHO (I have and like my Glock 17) and has 12+1 capacity. All for about $450 new. And if you get in on the rebate deal, you'll end up with 4 mags at that price to boot. What's not to love.

Bigger than a Rohrbaugh of course and probably a little bigger than a Kahr...and probably nearly half the price of either. Rohrbaughs are little works of art and engineering genius...with a $1,200 price tage and a 6 month wait to go with. Not slagging 'em at all though...I win the lottery, Rohrbaugh here I come!

I've carried a Kel Tec P11 for since they came out about 13 years. I've been very happy with it. At the time I bought it, the G26 was fairly new, was too bulky IMHO. Kahr only had the K9 steel gun, compact, but heavy and not a pocketable gun IMHO. And, I prefer a longer true DA for a pocket auto for safety reasons, anyway. The Taurus PT111 had just come out, but no one had one around here and I'm kinda glad they didn't cause the Taurus had some problems early on. The newer ones are perfected.

There's much more choice now and not many bad guns. I would shy away from the Skyy if it's still made, don't know. Lots of problems I've heard from that one, though some have had good luck with it. It might be okay, but I don't need no stinkin' safety on a DAO anyway. I like the KT a lot better.

Buying one now, I'd look at KT's PF9 and Kahr's PM9 and CW9 in addition to the P11. I don't think one is any better than the other, just that there are some things you might prefer about one over the other. The P11's trigger is true DAO which would appeal to those that like J frame DAOs for safety reasons, but many want a more Glock like trigger, safety be damned. And, if not pocket carried and with proper safe carry procedures and a good holster, that's fine, too. I ain't carryin' no 4 lb short stroke trigger in MY front pocket, though. To each his own. Like I say, though, the little Glock is a might porky for a pocket. It can be done, but it's a bigger and heavier than some of the others including the P11.

I have long hands, so 'small' is relative,

ONe often overlooked is the Smith & Wesson 908 - S&W's
economical finished version of the LS9, derived from the
3rd Gen. 3913. 908 24 oz. 3.5" Bbl. single stack, 8 rd mag.
DA/SA. Black finish Carbon Steel slide, with Alloy frame. The
908S has a Stainless STeel slide matte finish, both have a
Stainless steel barrel. somewhere in the $425 range.

ALso, the Springfield Armory EMP 1911 design shrunk to
9mm mag well.

Not in the market for a sub-compact 9x19, but if I was:

Top choice: Glock 26 (great choice on its own, but since I already have a G19, it's a no-brainer - magazines and some holsters interchange, etc.)

If I wanted a 2nd sub-compact: CZ RAMI (I've got a CZ P01 and I think the mags are also interchangeable between these guns)

Glock 26 . . . a fine gun, accurate and built to perfection :)D I know how much that bugs some of you). It's a little big, though, for pocket carry. I carry mine in a tuckable IWB.

My favorite small 9mm is my MK9 elite.

It's a sweeeet shooter, and I don't feel under-gunned with 7 rounds of +p 124 grain 9mm stoked in it ready to come out of a 3" barrel. I love my 239 in 9mm too, but want one in 357sig for a gun of its size. The kahr is perfect for the 9mm.

I can't believe nobody mentioned the Sig P239. I want one SOOO bad.
I have one, great gun, but I wouldn't call it "small". It's definitely smallER than a lot of guns, but the OP clarified his quest as "subcompact". :)

What is your favorite small 9mm?Which do you own or hope to own soon? By small i mean subcompacts btw, Thanks
There are many threads around with this familiar question, but I don't mind repeating myself. :)

I carry a Kel-Tec PF-9, my GF carries a Kahr PM9, both with Gripall Jr's and CT lasers. They're awesome guns. The Kahr is about twice the price of the Kel-Tec, it's up to you to determine if it's worth it.

I hope to own a Kahr CW9 here in the next few weeks. It fits my hand perfectly and feel so much nicer than other 9mm's in that size.
