Walther PPS

The Walther PPS is a great small / compact 9mm pistol. Thin, small, light, accurate, reliable plus excellent fit and finish.

SA EMP 1911 9mm

...

That would be my SA EMP SAO 1911 9mm..

Owned for over a year and she has some 4300 rounds fired in, ongoing, joy..

9+1, SAO, locked and cocked is hard to beat IMHO

I like the Walther PPS. I think I would also like the Beretta Px4SC if I could find an example somewhere other than in photographs...it "looks" like a keeper, but I gotta touch it to know.

I love the G26. It goes from sub-compact carry with a ten round mag to IWB/OWB with a twelve rounder and nightstand duty with a G19 magazine and spacer.

This way all my other guns can stay nice and I only holster wear and ding up one gun. Plus all my practice can be concentrated on this one weapon.

I'm a Rohrbaugh carrier. Even sounds like a disease, doesn't it?

The $850 I paid for mine barely used looks more and more like a great deal everyday.

Two favorite small 9mms...glock 26, perfect small pistol.
S&W CS9, thinner than the glock, shoots like a dream, never a failure.

Walther PPS

Although if somebody wants to supply one, I might lean towards a Springfield EMP or HK P7, but the PPS is the winner for now.
(PM me if you want to supply me with tester EMP or P7 models ... I 'd probably accept a Walther P99C if offered one)

Is the Beretta Px4SC thin? I find that thin is the deciding factor in most cases.

I forgot to mention the Rohrbaugh. I guess I don't think of it cause, well, you know what they say, if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it. LOL But, if you don't mind the money, it IS the smallest 9x19 on the market far as I know. That right there is reason enough. Won't be anyplace you wanna go that you'd have to leave it at home for a mouse caliber.

SA EMP, nice gun. Almost too nice. But it coulda been smaller. I wish they had down-sized the entire gun, in proportion. then they'd have a real masterpiece. As it is, it's a SA Micro with a skinny grip and a fat slide.
Keltec P11. I'm on my 3rd, nothing fits my hand better. 12+1 capacity.

But my Star BM has by far the best stock trigger.

Kahr PM9.
I also own the Glock 26/27/33 and it is indeed an excellent choice but if size and weight are a huge factor then the PM9 wins hands down. I love the trigger, too. Unlike the Rohrbach, the PM9 is also fun at the range. The only nuance is you have to load the first round with the slide locked open as per the owner's manual. The 250+ round break in period turns it into a machine second to none.

The compact Baby Eagle and CZ-75 compact both shoot well but are mid sized.

I like the G26 for a subcompact. even with my large hands I can shoot it well.

"if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it."

I've noticed over the years that a lot of people will spend $1200 or so on an AR that mostly just sits at home, when they could have had a Rohrbaugh that they'll use every single day. To each their own.

My Kahr PM9.

Bought it used for $475 last September. Came with factory nightsights, several extra mags, a holster and a box of Winchester Silvertips.

It may have been my greatest gun show buy ever.

But I would love to have a HK P7 or a rohrbaugh. I just can't seem to spend that kind of money on a handgun right now.

Yeah, well, I don't have an AR or a reason to own one either. My most expensive rifle is a Remington M7 (love that thing, a real critter gitter), but I got it for 5 bucks. I won it as a door prize at a local gun show. Actually, I won a .25-06 BDL, but swapped it at the gun shop for a stainless .308 M7 which I had the hots for. So, even us po boys score now and then. ROFL!

The Rohrbaugh is real nice, very small, an all day, every day kinda gun. It ain't much of a deer hunting gun, though, so that's why the M7. :D I only carry the M7 hunting where I carry my P11 every day, but there is no substitute for a rifle in the field. Well, yeah, I guess there is, my .30-30 TC Contender. :D But, that's another story. I have killed game with the rifle. Only ever shot a dog that was attacking me with the P11. If I'd had a ball bat near by, I wouldn't have had to do that, but I preferred to keep all my body parts at the time and it's all I had. I'd have probably had to beat that dog to death, anyway. He had a real bad attitude.

Well, one hopes they won't have to use it, exactly. But otherwise you raise a good point, I personally know many people who obsess over their AR-style rifles, buying accessories, debating the merits of various bells & whistles, researching the exact method the US Army uses to maintain them* ... and have under 500 rounds downrange per year, some under 100!
I'm all for gun ownership, and I'm not about to tell people what to do with their private property ... but a carry gun is worth more to me than a rifle sitting in the closet collecting dust because I can't afford to shoot it, or because the Airsoft red-dot on it doesn't work right (yes, I actually know someone with a $2000 rifle they have attached a $20 airsoft sight to, they brought their very nice rifle to my range to sight it in for the first time ever, and haven't shot it since ... at least 3 months ago!

*(as if what works for a federally-funded organization where you always have back-up next to you is applicable to the private citizen)

But, it's apples and oranges. I hunt with my rifles. They don't fit in my pocket, though, and the Kel Tec would suck as a hunting tool. I handload my rifles, so quality ammo isn't THAT expensive. I also handload 9x19 for practice and cast my own bullets.

Right now, though, just FINDING ammo is a problem. Same for primers. I've been shooting a lot of .22 and cap and ball lately. Dont' wanna shoot up my ammo and primers.

<sigh>

I've handled one and it felt great. They can call it a sub-compact, but it's not except when compared to other Berettas. It's a real handful, which is why it feels great.
