I've carried a Kel Tec P11 for since they came out about 13 years. I've been very happy with it. At the time I bought it, the G26 was fairly new, was too bulky IMHO. Kahr only had the K9 steel gun, compact, but heavy and not a pocketable gun IMHO. And, I prefer a longer true DA for a pocket auto for safety reasons, anyway. The Taurus PT111 had just come out, but no one had one around here and I'm kinda glad they didn't cause the Taurus had some problems early on. The newer ones are perfected.
There's much more choice now and not many bad guns. I would shy away from the Skyy if it's still made, don't know. Lots of problems I've heard from that one, though some have had good luck with it. It might be okay, but I don't need no stinkin' safety on a DAO anyway. I like the KT a lot better.
Buying one now, I'd look at KT's PF9 and Kahr's PM9 and CW9 in addition to the P11. I don't think one is any better than the other, just that there are some things you might prefer about one over the other. The P11's trigger is true DAO which would appeal to those that like J frame DAOs for safety reasons, but many want a more Glock like trigger, safety be damned. And, if not pocket carried and with proper safe carry procedures and a good holster, that's fine, too. I ain't carryin' no 4 lb short stroke trigger in MY front pocket, though. To each his own. Like I say, though, the little Glock is a might porky for a pocket. It can be done, but it's a bigger and heavier than some of the others including the P11.
