This is common sense but the turnaround time surprised me a bit. Sending a S&W Shield back for minor repairs through Academy and I was expecting 6 weeks. The counter guy told me they are running 8 to 16 weeks.

I assume rifles and shotguns would also take similar time to repair.

I sent a model 60 Pro back to Smith & Wesson for warranty repair last month. I got a notice they received it nearly a month ago. Usually I will get a call or email within a few days that they are working on the problem. I haven’t received anything. I believe with CoVid lockdowns they are behind.

At least they’re taking warranty repairs. I’ve been waiting since the end of March to send a Model 48/4 in because it’s binding up and won’t fire. The last time I called the lady said try mid-June. I’m intending to call tomorrow.

Stay safe.

Mossberg told me a MINIMUM of 8 weeks..

I just got off the phone with S&W.

Performance Center non-warranty turnaround is at least six months. They sent me a label so it’ll head back there tomorrow.

This lemon won’t work, so it has to go in. I guess I’ll get to shoot it in 2021.

Oh well :(

Stay safe.

I have a Beretta sent in for a small repair. It will be exactly 3 months tomorrow and they have not even looked at it.(New gun under warranty)

You guys aren't making me feel good. I just sent in a new M&P9 that wouldn't chamber a round because it was hanging up on the extractor. Didn't fire one round.

It's because no one wants to work anymore, they'd rather stay home. Because no one wants to work when you need something it's not available. Saw this twice already in the last 2 recessions. This could be worse than the recessions though.

I’m picking up my CZ 75B from a local gunsmith this week. I had a race hammer installed and some trigger work done. I figure that two & a half weeks is pretty good turnaround, they do great work, and I want to support small local businesses in these tough economic times. And I want to know & talk with the guy working on my guns, it’s a good relationship to have.

That's the way to do it if you can. I only sent my gun back (the S&W in the OP) because it was new and needed warranty work. I'll probably wish I fixed it myself before I get it back.

Man, I wish I had fixed my Beretta myself, would have been so easy with the modular take down. This is also a reason that on my main carry guns, I bought two. One for range work and one for carry. Thankfully I have a spare. It is now three months and they have not even touched the gun. Back log has to be enormous since they do not want to go back to work. My gosh, this could end up being over a year.
