I'm trying to get a list together of scenes/movies that have a take down rifle in them. I know I've seen them…but for the life of me I can't think of a single movie right now where they've been featured. Google let me down on this one…but this forum surely knows more than Google on this topic.

What say you? Anyone remember scenes/movies with takedown rifles?

"From Russia With Love" -- Bond uses an AR-7 with scope.

"Day of the Jackal" -- a one-off design disguised as a crutch.

the package

Doesnt Tommy Lee Jones operate some sort of take down rifle in the Package? Gene Hackman also in the movie.

Yes....

Yes but the member can research all the films & TV shows.

NBC's Miami Vice the cop drama in the 1980s, had a cool scene(in a ep written by NRA board member John Milius, www.imdb.com ) where a biker puts together a sniper rifle & guns down a drug dealer who falls dead into his own birthday cake. :uhoh:
Actor Reb Brown played the biker. :D
Carrie Fisher has a rifle scene in The Blues Brothers(1980). She puts together a scoped M16a1 5.56x45mm.
The first CBS TV Hawaii 5-0 had a episode with a real double amputee who played an assassin who used a sniper rifle. The newer 5-0(which is really good) had a episode with the same plot.

One of the greatest fun films ever, Grosse Point Blank, features a "sniper" scenario in the opening scene and Cusak is seen assembling his suppressor and scope (?) on his rifle.

The way the scene plays out it appears he packs the whole thing into two brief cases as he leaves, but even IMFDB doesn't know what the rifle was.

Jodi Foster did a movie remake of a French film. I think it was Le Fem Nakitta or Nakitta. Might have been called point of No Return. She's on assignment. Goes into bathroom and gets a call to take out a target unexpectedly and needs to assemble a take down sniper rifle.

That wasn't Jodi Foster, it was Bridget Fonda in that film.

There were at least 3 James Bond movies and at least 7 other films featuring the Ar7 in various guises.

The gun in 'The American' was a folding stocked Mini 14 with a suppressor. It was not a takedown.

The gun in Grosse Point Blank was not a take down either. It was just a bolt action that Cusak screws a suppressor onto and then attaches a scope (like that would work without being zeroed). That's Hollywood!

And it was an Anschutz .22 bolt action rifle.

The original featured a Steyr AUG IIRC.

Yep...

The original movie is good. The American "remake"... not so much.

I'm pretty sure Burn Notice had a number of takedown rifles over the various seasons, though I can't name specific episodes.

Am I the only one old enough to remember "The Manchurian Candidate?"

As for TV Magnum comes to mind. In Season 2 a pro has what looked like in passing (I did not go slow mo or freeze frame) a Browning take down .22 auto in a scene in a church. In another season 2 show Magnum is protecting a jerk of a pro football quarter back that was his second stringer at the USNA. A nut boy fan shows up at a practice with an AR7. While he is struggling to put it together a rent a cop unlimbers a .38 or .357 revolver and takes out the nut boy from a good 30 yards.

I can hardly wait until Holly weird takes note of the Ruger 10/22 takedown.

The takedown I want is a Maynard of ACWish vintage in a velvet lined fitted case with two barrels and multiple sighting options a guy at a how let me play with even though I explained I could not even think of buying it. I'll bet one of Moriority's minions would have loved it.
