I saw this on another forum. It appears to be legit.

"Tucson, AZ - Feb 01, 2008 - Vltor Weapon Systems today announced the launch of the Fortis Pistol Project, a modern version of the famous Bren Ten style pistol.
Originally released in 1982, the Bren Ten pistol was designed to advance the state of the art in handgun technology. Designed to fill the need for a full size, full power, double action pistol, the Bren Ten created immense interest as a potent choice for law enforcement and military use.
Developed as a pistol and cartridge combination, the Bren Ten was the first production pistol to chamber the powerful 10mm Auto cartridge. In its original loading, the 10mm Auto was capable of launching a 170gr buller at 1,300 fps - generating over 600ft/lb of muzzle energy.
Unfortunately, the original Bren Ten and its successor fell victim to business management and financial problems - but the demand for a high quality American made, full size, double action pistol has still not been filled.

According to Eric Kincel, the General Manager for Vltor, the Bren Ten may have truly been a design that was ahead of its time; "Now is the time to make this pistol. With today's precision manufacturing techniques and the superior materials available, the Fortis will be a pistol line that is everything people hoped previous attempts would be."
Eric pointed out that the Fortis is nearly identical to the original Bren Ten in exterior appearance and ergonomics, but that some changes have been made to improve reliability, safety and strength. "The Fortis, while based on a twwnty-five year old idea, is very unique. It offers a high tech, high quality pistol that more than fills the demands for a full size, magnum power auto loader."

The first released Fortis will be a "duty gun", a full size, all steel, high capacity 10mm Auto that will reliably answer the call of professionals and sportsmen that rely on a good pistol. However, Eric is quick to point out that the Fortis Project is a line of pistols based on one common design. "There will be other versions of the Fortis...different calibers, sizes and options specific to certain applications." When asked if they intend on releasing a faithful reproduction of the original Bren Ten, Eric's answer was simply "We sure want to".

is radiused rifling like soft traditional rifling? sort of like a cross between traditional land-and-groove and polygonal rifling?

Is 10 Mm Needed?

When the 10m.m. was adopted by the FBI, S&W released several pistols that were identical in size to the 4500 series. They must not have sold well or they would not have been dropped.

Also, you can get 10 m.m. GLOCKS and have able for the last 15 or 20 years and I think EAA is still selling a WITNESS model in 10 m.m.

I am not sure the BREN TEN/FORTIS will be much of a seller. The police and military market is out. They will go .45ACP or if they want a 10 m.m. cartridge, it will almost certainly be the .40 S&W.

Medium velocity loads duplicate the .40 S&W with a bigger, heavier and bulkier gun.

High velocity loads increase effectiveness at the cost of recoil and a bigger gun.

I see only limited appeal as the .45ACP already dominates the big bore field.

Dang, don't be a 10mm hater :)
Those of us who have one usually swear by them. Nothing else is quite as versatile as the "dead" 10mm.

Somehow I doubt they are actually going to manufacture it when they can have a turkish factory make it for them (Sarsilmaz AR-24). Actually, they would be stupid to set up their own production, especially when american consumers can be deceived so easily with a rebrand.

they might just bring us the Sarsilmaz 45 rebranded. available in .45acp and 10mm just like the Bren was.

the 10 aint dead. my wife washed it & it shrunk :neener:

+1 on price dependant--at least for me. although as i already have the 40/10 dies.......i'll most likely get one---just one ;)

10 MM Rocks!

The 10 mm is a great caliber for ammo reloaders, such is the versatility of the cartridge.

Loaded properly, the 10 mm cartridge offers true .357 magnum performance in a high capacity auto loader. There's got to be a market for that!

For those who don't reload, 10 mm OEM ammo prices will come down as demand and volume for the caliber increases. The Double Tap 4-pak (200-round) price is already pretty good.

It's novel and fun to shoot! Many times, at our indoor range, I've had people walk over and ask, "What the hell are you shooting?" It seems black auto loaders aren't supposed to go Boom! like that! That is the realm of the big wheel guns, and Desert Eagles... ;)

If memory serves, the Bren Ten was Sonny Crockett's gun!

Jim, I read you post and I hear Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy saying "Are Assault weapons needed"?

Does it really matter if it's "needed"? It's wanted?

Do the FBI and Police carry .22s? No, so should we get rid of it?

There are many 10mm's around, I don't think they're dead at all:

Glock
EAA
Kimber
Colt
Dan Wesson
Springfield Omega
S&W

...please add to this list. I know I forgot some.

There are many 10mm's around, I don't think they're dead at all:

:( I live in CA so I can't have most of those :(

I was posting facetiously about 10MM being dead.

I don't either. in fact I think it could see a resurgence if we could just convince one other large name to make a 10MM. I'd love it to be XD or M&P

Just curious Scorpius, where can you see a list of "legal" firearms in California? Is there such a thing?

Jeff Cooper Bren Ten Jeff Cooper Bren Ten
If the Colonel were alive and going to war, ammunition not an issue, would he take his 1911 45acp, or the Bren Ten? I think the Bren Ten.

While I've never been a big fan of the 10mm, I would buy a Bren Ten in a heartbeat. I've wanted one of these since they were first introduced. Lost a $100 deposit on one too. Dornaus and Dixon went out of business before completion of my order. Still have my receipt. Maybe the new guys will give me a credit! Or maybe not.

Any reason to get a resurrected Bren over, say, an EAA Witness 10mm?

Sarsilmaz 45 rebranded. available in .45acp and 10mm just like the Bren was.

That do look nice (except for the squared trigger guard, which I don't care for).

I wish them luck, but I have zero interest in a DA/SA (unless, like the CZ75, it can be carried C&L). It's interesting that they're pushing this as a duty gun, when the trend in duty guns is away from DA/SA.

If they make a SA or "partially-cocked striker-fired" version, I'll be aaaaaaaaaall over it.

Mike

ok, so the bren ten was a modded CZ. but now we have straight up CZ/Tangfolio 's available in 10mm

the bren tens niche is gone and the 10mm is a dying round. i dont think il be investing my $$$
