The CZ Club

I'm going home this weekend, so I'll get to see my CZs again. I'm afraid to shoot any of them, though. I've been trying out for Texas A&M's shooting team, so I don't want to shoot any .45 or 9mm until I know for a fact that I've made the team. Don't want to mess up what I've been learning. But based on what I've learned and how I've gotten better with the .22s I've been working with, I can't wait to see if that helps me with my other pistols.

I am thinking about becoming a member of the CZ club...

I like to make informed decisions before I buy though and the whole magazine compatibility situation with CZ's and the clones has me utterly and completely confused :banghead:. Can someone in the know please break this down for me? Some pertinent questions I have are:

1) In the realm of CZ's (and clones), there are small frame (9 mm & 40 S&W) and large frame (38 super, 10 mm, 45 acp) pistols. I know that you can convert any large frame to 9 mm or 40 S&W, but then what magazines would it take? Are there 2 types of 9 mm magazines (large frame 9 mm mags and small frame 9 mm mags)? Or would you use the 38 super mags for the 9 mm and 10 mm magazines with the 40 S&W? Is a large frame gun converted to 9 mm as reliable as a small frame 9 mm?

2) There are both steel framed and polymer pistols - are the magazines for polymer pistols compatible with the steel guns and vice versa?

3) There are at least 3 different types of CZ clones including the CZ's themselves. Are the magazines interchangeable amongst CZ's, EAA Witnesses, and the Magnum Research Baby Eagles?

CZs are

genrally NOT convertable. The 75 series will all take the Kadet 22 kit (which is great BTW), but the 9mm DOESN't convert to 40, etc. CZ just isn't into the conversion game. Even Barsto no longer regularly makes barrels to go to 357 SIG, etc. And... the 97 model is a whole different gun than the 9mm CZ 75 B.

The EAA Witness is a CZ 75 clone and is VERY convertable.

Thanks - that still leaves questions #2 and #3 though.

The Witness steel & polymer pistols generally use the same mags. I think the CZ100 uses the same mags as the CZ75B, but I don't know for sure.

Some mags are interchangeable between the Tanfoglio clones and CZ. The .45 Witness & CZ97B use the same mags. The other calibers usually need some tweaking to work with both the CZ's and Tanfoglio clones.

Actually, TAMU's shooting team uses a in-door range in the basement of the Military Science building on campus for it's shooting. They only use .22s, but I'm guessing that the backstop is rated for a bit more than that.

I really need to get that caded kit for my CZ!

hey Hakan, are you taking orders again? I emailed you a few months back and I believe you had a freeze on new orders in effect.:( I've got a 75b stainless that is begging for some new furniture.

A CZ 75B magazines will fit and function in a CZ 100... if you don't mind part of the magazine sticking out below the magwell. :D

Here is my CZ 75B.

Clipse...

Beautiful CZ!

Where did you get the mag base on that magazine?

BTW - i think the Satin Nickel finish is the nicest looking on a CZ - even beats the stainless steel.

I want a Satin Nickel CZ-75 bad, cant find any stores out here that carry them though. I'll probably have to get one offa the net

I was at Cabela's tonight and handled my first CZ and got bit bad.

The 97 is next on my list, but first I must get one for my Mrs.
That way I can justify mine, since I just bought a different gun Thursday.

Can somebody please tell me about the RAMI in 9 or 40?
