I just saw an ad for one of these and didn't really know what it was until I saw a close-up of the mag and realised what the cartridge was.

Wow! That is one attractive machine, I don't mind tellin' ya.

I'd like to find out about it from owners and those who have handled them extensively. How does it perform? Value? Cheers/jeers? Thanks in advance!

I've fired one. Let's see. Arguably no more powerful than 9mm, twice the price of a competing polymer 9mm, really goofy safety, very thick grip. Honestly, I don't really see the point other than as a sidearm to carry along with your PS90.

If you like FN pistols, buy a FNX 9mm for half the price.

:barf:It's insanely expensive "pellet gun". For relatively small percentage of Belgian "pellet gun" cost one can get 30-shot .22WMR KelTec.

Ive been shot with a pellet gun and it wasn't that bad but I wouldn't want to get hit by a 5.7x28.

Not saying I'd ever want to get shot with a pellet gun again though!

How does 5.7x28 compare to 7.62x25 in terms of performance/usage? thanks!

Sexy beast? Hardly. More like an odd niche gun, who's niche may be limited to ps90 owners. But, heck you might love it. You should see about shooting one before you spend that kind of money though.

Or AK74's? Polish Tantals? Same round, yes? No?

5.7x28≠5.45x39

If you want to shoot 5.7x28, get a PS90. Its awesome. Cabelas just bought a bunch of refurbished PS90s from FN Herstal. The selling price is $999. Check your local gun libraries.

I found one in Hammond, IN and the sales guy said the price is dropping on them. CDNN just blew some out too.

One can have S/A version of AKMS-74 for <$400. Last one I have seen had receiver and skeleton folding stock from famous Radom Sewing Machine factory (marked '11') and Tapco components.

I have owned one before - it is a nice gun. I only sold it in 2008 to put the $ towards a custom 1911...

I do have two PS90s, though. And, dispite what some say, the ammo isn't that expensive. If you look around hard enough, you can still find it online for $19-$20 a box, especially if you buy in bulk.

I keep some extra rounds on hand and only buy what I shoot now..

The FIve Seven I used to have:

And my current PS90s...

I enjoy shooting it. It's a very well made gun. Initially the trigger was a bit spongy, but it cleared up and is pretty nice nowadays. It's very easy to shoot quickly...staying on target is quite easy with the soft recoil, (similar to a .32acp). The gun stays incredibly clean.

It makes for a fun outdoor gun for plinking or targets. The ballistics make it a very good HD gun. The ease of use, soft recoil and easy load mags make it a great gun for the elderly or somewhat afflicted.

I don't know about sexy. but it is competent and reliable.

Yo Shipwreck, I love the double clip on that ps90

Thanks - I tried it a few years back and didn't like it, because I was left eye dominate. But, when I had my MSAR, I trained myself to use my right eye. Now, I like the 2nd PS90 magazine to give a great cheek weld with the EOtech. It works very well.

One day, I envision a time when people no longer deride another caliber . . . . especially when that SAME caliber has plenty potential to kill. It is rather ridiculous, IMO. If you don't like something. . . . . . don't BUY it! :scrutiny:

Though I don't intend (short of a winning lotto ticket) to buy one, I agree with the OP that it's a good looking gun. Grips shape, angle, and other ergonomic factors are hard to pin down with a perfect formula, but in my medium/small hands, I thought it was a comfortable gun to handle. (Never had the chance to shoot one -- this was just a gun-store mauling ;)).

I would probably also go w/ the Kel-Tec if I wanted a high-capacity, flat-shooting gun right now, because that's one I could more easily afford to feed, and find ammo for.

a guy asked to shoot it over my boolit radar :) i told him sorry, i dont want my chrony shot....lol if i shoot it he can read the numbers lol- ran about 1700 FPS!

The 5.7 X28 is a very nice shooting round. Why do the FBI and secret service use it in there machine gun pistols?I have a AR 5.7 X 28 trust me it,s no pellet gun.

FN makes good stuff. I have seen DAO only HP-type 9x19 gun with alloy frame three magazines cleaning kit, manual and black plastic FNH box for $400.

I would own one, but I feel the price is unreasonable for what it is...a plastic pistol designed for cheap mass-production.
If the price of this pistol were lower, it might serve as an entry level arm that would bring more shooters into the 5.7 round, and sell more ps90's.
