I propose we begin a campaign to each senator that acknowledges a "gun show loophole" to properly educate them that such a loophole is nothing but bad semantics.

A "gun show" is effectively a flea market for firearms enthusasts, from beginner to exhaustive collector.

Some dim was commenting on how people who are ineligble to purchase from a dealer by way of legal disability buy from a "dealer" that doesnt have a license.

BUT WAIT - to qualify to hold the "dealer" definition, you have to have said license. So which is it? Has the ATF definition of dealer changed from a Type 1 or 2 licensee to someone who ever buys a gun and decides to sell it at some point?

Said senator claims that a "gun show loophole" is attributed to crime and that the state police agree. It is my personal opinion that if a state wishes to regulate the acquisition of firearms by persons disqualified to own them, perhaps they should take pro-active policing as an option.

I dont know where you come from but where I live, theres a ton of cops and ATF at the gun show waiting to bust dealers for breaking the law. Now I belive in the rights afforded to you under the constitution, but when you get convicted of a felony - you lose many rights like the ability to own a firearm, vote, and others. I think it should be the responsibility of the police to ensure that convicted felons lose their right to the 2nd amendment.

When a felon attempts to acquire a firearm - a FFL does a call in and ensures their legality to purchase on the criteria of legal disability. It is the FFL's job to verify that age is congruent with federal regulations of purchase. The last time I checked a 4473 it is a felony to mis-represent info on the form. So if thats the case - any felon making false statements on a 4473 should be subject to prosecution under what the fine print tells us law abiding citizens, right? How many call ins deem a prospective purchaser disqualified every year? How many of them are felons and think they can get around the system? How many are reported to the police and arrested?

We dont need gun control. We need CRIMINAL control.

As far as the leftist extremists are concerned, the Second Amendment is the ultimate so-called "loophole." Since they know they can't get away with so-called "closing" it, they're hoping to tie up the nation's law-abiding firearms owners in red tape.

Nota bene: the leftist extremists aren't even remotely concerned about firearms in the hands of criminals, who constitute one of their most loyal groups of voters. Their only concern is to disarm the law-abiding.
