The perfect 1911

I like the gun that is the caliber, size and weight that i need to do the job that day.
Its a tool and lots of companies make them, Some just better than others.
Many times you can use tools to do a job they aren't even designed for and they still work.

But life isn't so cut and dry as humans we have the ability to rationalize and have preferences and life is to short to say one gun is all i need.

Let's see. I hate Glocks. That said, I'd jump on a 34 or 35, yesterday.
You have to shoot one, if you hate glocks, to find out it's a glock that isn't a glock. GREAT trigger, hyper-accurate, and since I'm in an eye candy mood:

Some of those groups are better then they appear. The owner shot the center group, and was trying to figure out what he was doing wrong.

Keep in mind that my previous groups with a Glock 30 looked like this:

I shot the gun better the faster I fired.

So: Glock haters: There are a couple glocks you should try, if you want a good trigger, and, the good news is they aren't that much more expensive then the ones with the S&@ 16 lb DA triggers.

1911 haters:
All the things Hickock hates are assets in a 1911. Weight soaks up recoil.
For people with small hands, a single stack is a good thing.

There IS a place for a double stack, 1911 .45. It's too bad more people don't have big hands and..., and, that we don't have a polymer, 1911, with a double stack grip that isn't a Wilson(Cost), and, that is produced in enough quantity to make it worth producing the magazines.

It's a wash, I think, between custom parts prices between 1911's, and glocks, but, what do I know?

To borrow a quote I read on another forum. "Colts and Kimbers are the guns you show off to your friends, Glocks are the guns you show to your enemies."

I've found that to be pretty accurate. I love my 1911's better than any guns I've ever owned. But if I had to use a handgun to save my bacon, one of the Glocks is the only one I'd reach for.

Polymer kind of breaks that rule. Shot side by side with my 1911's, my XD45, while being noticeably lighter, soaks up recoil better.

Of course, all I need to do is look at the target to know the difference -- I'm a better shot with the 1911's than I am the XD, and a much better shot with them than I am with my Glock 27.

Unfortunately, at the moment, for guns I'll carry, I shoot the best with my CZ-82, by far. I kind of wish that wasn't the case, but it's been making me carry it far more than my G27. A hit with a 9x18 beats a miss with a .40s&w, but I'd sure rather have a hit with a .40s&w than a 9x18!

"Why would you shoot children at 150 yards? "

line to door gunner " how can you shoot women and children?"

responds " don't lead them as much"

what viet nam era movie was this?

be safe

Full Metal Jacket is a great movie.

But to be technical, it's not a Vietnam era movie.
It's a 1980's era fictional Vietnam War movie. ;)

Yeah, yeah, I know....I've got too much time on my hands. :D

Well, a 1911 fits my hand, but a Glock does not. I will need that extra capacity, because my accuracy suffers, and I can hope the Golden BB theory will result in a hit. Uh, no thanks. I can change magazines, thank you very much.

In actuality, due to being compelled to carry one of several specified .40s after having to set aside my 1911s for duty carry, I did tote a G22 for a while. Then, I figured out the P229 fits my hands, with the shorter trigger option. I have, however, kept my Les Baer TRS, because I won't be working as a police officer for this PD forever.

Yes he does have them look again, He also has just about every rifle ever made. From black powder to M1's, do a utube search and you will see, I saw him firing off his wilson in one of his 1911 videos.

He also has series 70, 80, Kobra custom carry , Kimbers, and just about every other 1911, so please don't critisize until you look at all his videos on 1911's, he just is better known for his work with Glocks, also has XD's, MP's and the rest of the boys,
This was meant for Mr Presley, who commented on my lack of research on mr Hickock
