Thinking of buying S.A. XDM .45

ratt finkel,

I understand perfectly. I didn't mean to imply the HK was the be-all-end-all. One size never seems to fit anyone. However, for me, it was like finding cindarella's slipper. In my opinion, the quality of my HK exceeds the others I have owned.

I did say "at least in my hands"

"its a glock that wears sunglasses and hair gel"

hhaha what a great line, never heard it put this way.

I have fired the .45 tactical version as well. Maybe this is just me, but it felt large and clunky compared to my G30. Now, that doesn't matter to me at the range, but for carry, it definitely does. It was plenty accurate, it just had occasional issues with feeding some of the more aggressive hollow points. It was an older model and perhaps this has since been fixed. In contrast my G30 is an older model (no rail) and it runs like a champ with anything I stick in it. That is my experience, just relating what I know personally. Good luck with it!

Personally, I think that applies much better to the M&P line. They are similar, but prettier, and curvier. The XDs are way too utilitarian for hair gel.

Guys, the OP ordered an XDM in .40 S&W on Nov. 4th, so in effect this thread is dead. You can always start new ones but the decision was made 5 weeks ago.

I try to check dates as many of my initial posts were for threads several years old. Welcome to all those new to THR, be good to one another and have fun learning way too much about firearms (if that's possible).

I bought one when they first came out. I replaceg the sights with TruGlo TFO's and had some trigger work done(Powder River kit). My gun shoots right with my Ed Brown and Kimber Ultra CDP II.

I own the XD 45 compact, I love it !! I'm definitely a fan of ergonomics over a glock but that is a personal thing !! I've put 1,000 rounds roughly thru it and never once had a problem, very impressed ! As far as carry it is a bit bulky for my taste.

I have a XDM 45 in stainless with just over 500 rounds through it, and man what a pistol! I can eat a small hole out of a target with that thing at 10 yards...(my wife did it at 25). The ONLY gripe I have ever heard about my XDM was from a buddy of mine who said it had more recoil than his 1911, but he is also 5' 7" and 120 pounds. You really cant go wrong with the XDM.

Unless you like the "Mans Tool"....then you can go buy a glock I guess. :neener:
