This illegal infestation is out of control

We should never look for excuses for an illegal activity. You do not agree with something, then change the law! Illegal immigration is, well, ILLEGAL. Period.

So we must:
1) secure the border
2) arrest and deport illegals
3) heavily fine US employers that hire illegals
4) remove the baby anchor rule
5) remove any incentives for illegals, e.g. social benefits, education, medical care, etc.
6) deny to illegals US documents that look like legal aliens/citizens IDs
7) have the native countries imprison their criminals back at home for crimes committed in the US while staying as illegals
8) convince the native countries to imprison illegals for say, 2 months, at home for entering US illegally
9) repeated offenders get heavier sentences at home
10) maintain a healthy controlled influx of LEGAL aliens

What we must NOT do is:
1) treat other people like cockroaches
2) encourage the murder of other people
3) pay for illegals in any way other than absolutely necessary, e.g. extradition
4) vote for politicians that are soft on this issue or outright apologetics
5) allow political organizations SOLELY based on original ethnicity
6) allow bilingual education of any sort (other than user-paid ESL programs)
7) treat Spanish as a second official language. There is only one official language in this country and it is ENGLISH. Don't like it? Tough!

Additional notes:

Many of my colleagues and friends in Cullifawnya are of Latino descent and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them. In fact, I would say many are harder-working than some natives I know. Besides, many of their women are hot as hell !

Simultaneously, I am personally disgusted with the kind of political arm-twisting some Latino leaders here are trying to do to promote bilingual nonsense, excuse illegal immigration, give handouts to illegals, and call any of their opponents "racists". I really don't think that anybody wins from the emergence of such Latino Farakhans and Rev. Shusters.

I am also disgusted by the fact that many Latinos establish enclaves and don't learn English, while blatantly fly Mexican flags instead of the US flag! Once you become citizen, your allegiance should switch to the USA. Anything else is treason!

Incidentally, Schwarzenegger put up a big fight against illegals having CA drivers' licenses.

Schwarzenegger for president 2008!

I am slightly confused by some of the sentiments expressed in this thread. For a board that has at its core philosophy liberty some of the above sounds incompatible with liberty.

3. why shouldnt a business ower have the freedom to hire the most affordable labor?
4. if a person is born here, then they're born here.
5. I agree we should scrap all public benefit programs. This way the taxpayer isn't burdened. Meaning more economic freedom for the average joe.
6. maybe we should do away with the documents period. ;) whats the point of them except for the govt to keep track of people?
7. how do you propose we get other countries to imprison folks that committed crimes here? isnt that out of our jurisdiction?
8. again thats attempting to breach another countries soveriegnity.

What do you mean we must not allow political groups that are based on ethnicity? Isnt that a violation of a part of the first amendment? That freedom of assembly bit. ;)

Kurush,

I may be wrong, but I always thought that the official language of a country is the one in which all documents of legal force are written. By definition, a country must have an official language to identify the legally binding documents. If you have any documents in a foreign language, it takes a notary to certify the translations. Again, as far as I know. No sarcasm intended.

captlid,

3) Businesses certainly have the right to hire the cheapest labor, so let them do so in the original country. After all, that is what CAFTA is all about. But, in the US they are subject to US labor laws. Is it protectionist? Probably. Is it the law? Definitely. If we do not like it, we should change the law.

4) the baby anchors are an example of a decent idea having become a loophole that a staggering number of people viciously abuse. I absolutely reject the notion that any legal loopholes should be tolerated.

5) I got no beef with SOME public program. But what is going on now is just ridiculous. A system that pays poor people to have more kids produces a population excess of future slave labor. I consider it irresponsible to bring children to this world knowing that they have virtually no decent shot at economic success. That just perpetuates poverty and hopelessness. On this, I am Maltusian. Besides, I hate the idea that my tax dollars partly pay for them and their (hopelessly bad) education.

6) you can't be serious about ID elimination. Are you making fun of me, or of anti-fed militiamen?

7) we should give other countries a small financial incentive to imprison there instead of here. A perp here costs 40,000 dollars annually. Give 1,000 dollars to a Latin American country and they would be happy to imprison there. The perp will also think twice about perping here if he knows he is going to, say, a Peruvian or a Mexican jail. Ours are 5-star hotels by comparison. Many perps here do a small crime and get caught on purpose to get medical treatment, e.g. thousands of dollars of anti-cancer drugs, replacement joints, organ transplants, or even just dentistry!! Compare this to law-abiding citizens being unable to afford health insurance!! The system is so screwed, it is surreal!

8) incentivise as above

5) Yeah. There may be a constitutional problem. I have to think about that one. But I am certain you get why such parties can be extremely dangerous. NSDAP (the Nazis) was exactly that and it did not end well for anybody.

Documents in the U.S. can be legally binding in multiple languages. Official forms and materials printed by the government are available in multiple languages. There is even a nifty spanish version of the 4437.

The US Const does not require that all born on US soil have US Citizenhip. This has been recognized from the first days the 14th Amendment came into effect. Giving citizenship to all infants immigrants who manage to be born here is a relatively recent practice of the executive and legislative branches.

One example off the top of my head is that of foreign diplomats' children born here. Mrs. Diplomat goes to the local hospital and gives birth to Diplomat Jr. Junior does not receive US Citizenship.

I know this: our seminal documents are in English; so is U.S. case law. The law depends on clarity and nuance of language and is therefore, per se, language-bound.

It is not about any intrinsic superiority of English--although linguistics experts could argue that since English is the least inflected and most flexible modern tongue; certainly it's already de facto the world's common linguistic currency--but about our specific legacy.

Why are we so ready to jettison one of our core identities?

A common language is one of the great strengths of this nation, enabling trade, commerce and progress among 280+ million people. As we descend into the pit of 'multiculturalism', we become a polyglot boarding house comprised of various outsiders with competing agendas, and no allegiance to the United States.

Guess allot of people forgot were most of the founding fathers come from. Oh well that is what happens when you pander the non english speaking people.

Why does it matter where they came from? Once here, all did their best to learn the language and integrate themselves in the society.

Respect for different cultures is one thing, equating American nationalism with "racism", "intolerance" etc. is another. Creating artificial barriers by stimulating the conduction of official business in different languages is perverted PC.

Just because I live in CA, the way things are going I might need to learn Spanish to function without handicap in the future. That's plain nuts.

Hang in there Texas will soon follow. :(

No, they didn't.

Sucks to be on the loosing side, huh?

I work in a small kitchen supply store. This evening, as I was standing near the front of the store conversing with a co-worker (we're both about as white as it gets) a woman walked in and asked what time we closed - in Spanish. Now, it so happens that I speak a little Spanish and was able to answer her. But the absolute arrogance it takes to just assume that one of us would speak Spanish astounded me.

Well, one could argue that we Americans are only getting payback from all the year that our tourists in foreign lands assumed that everybody else spoke English.

Of course, one could also argue that the world is flat, and sun revolves around the Earth. Neither is correct though.

Anymore, I look apon such circumstances as a chance to practice my Mandarin, abominable though it is.

Some people forget where most of the people AFTER the founding fathers came from. this is what happens when you hero worship people who have been dead for 200 years.

The only way to stop the illegal aliens in their tracks is to put in place a national ID system where an ID card that is IMPOSSIBLE to duplicate that ties back to a central database with your picture and other information is required for every person. Don't have this ID - can't do any money related transaction. Stopped by a cop and don't have ID - automatic detention.

Our borders are not secure and probably never will be. But this would make it so they can't do much once they are here. I realize that they could have supporters here with ID cards who assist them.

NOTE: I am not advocating this type of system. I believe that government already has too much power. I just think that this is the next step that the government will take to try to get a handle on terrorism.

Whoa, bad for business, senor. Who do you think is pushing for new business, whether from legals or illegals? America's corporations are happy to do business with anyone or anything with a pulse, speaking Swahili, Klingon, or Chaucerian English.

Keep the stream of illegals coming from Mexico, without INSISTING on assimilation, and you will have a big chunk of America looking like a replica of today's Mexico in a few years. It's the culture, stupid. Mexico is not what it is because it is statist, it is statist because of the culture. Different values, different histories, different visions of life. Fatalism and passivity do not a free and dynamic society make. We are losing the thread of our unique history by not understanding what we believe and what sets America apart. America is not a theme park, a place to work and send money home, a cultural free-for-all.
