I love the look and history of the Mk III, but I picked the No4 MkI because it’s the only one I have fired of the SMLE family.

Once again I agree, except replace No.1 Mk3*. Lol
Whatever No. & Mk they are great rifles!!

1961 My Dad mail orders from Klien's a WWII Walther P-38 and it is mailed to our house .
The postman gives the package to 12 year old sitting on front steps (me)

1967 and I'm in High School and can buy a rifle in Louisiana ... my top 3

1.) 1903-A3 Springfield 30-06 never issued

2.) 1895 Spanish Mauser short rifle w/ turned down bolt 7 X 57

3.) British Enfield No.4 MK i 303 British BSA made and never issued

4.) 1911 Schmidt-Rubin K11 Carbine (short rifle) 7.5 Swiss ... had to list the straight pull weird rifle ...they sold for $19.95 and nothing but surplus army issue ammo was around ...
we bought them because they were cheap and strange ... they shot very well !!!

My Dad wasn’t into guns, so I have no idea when such guns had these retail prices.

An SKS with an added aperture rear sight makes it much more accurate.
