My novel, Monster Hunter International, is going to be out around the end of the year. I'll approve the final proof copy in the next few weeks, and then we should be shipping in December. I'm doing a pre-order on it now, and the details are available on my blog at www.larrycorreia.wordpress.com

As for how this is related to THR, this book was actually inspired by a quote from THR member Buzz Knox back on the legendary "Lines I would like to hear in a horror movie someday" thread back on The Firing Line in 2001.

You ever watch a monster movie, where the characters scream, and run, and get eaten, and you've said to yourself, man, that sure is different than how me and my friends would react? Do you find yourself watching B-movies and yelling at the characters to just shoot the monsters? Have you ever had a serious discussion about which gun you would pull out of the safe for what kind of monster?

Then this book was written for you.

Many THR members have read early copies of my book and enjoyed it. Hopefully I can get some of them to chime in here with a review. And a very popular THR author, Matt Bracken author of Enemies Foreign and Domestic, is also a fan.

Well, anyway, I'm doing a pre-order now. I'm doing autographed copies and throwing in some extra goodies. Details are on the link above.

Yes, I was just wondering that very thing about "Thirty Days of Night." A film so idiotic it was set in BARROW yet showed a whitebread town with minimal firearms. In real life they've got more rifles than Wayne Anthony Ross plus WHALE GUNS. Whale guns vs. vampires--how cool would that have been? But as usual the writer and filmmaker are complete morons and never bothered to learn anything about the real life Barrow. The idiots will spend millions on a movie but never even bother to spend half an hour on google.

I want to see the movie. Actually if it just show 4 THR members sitting around talking about which guns for which monsters I would see that, as long as it features guns, lots of guns.

Cor, we will be reading about accurate firearms usage, right?:D

Is there a chapter about how zombies attack a gun shoppe and the dealers sends them all away with a righteous "NO!"? Or, how the monsters storm the shoppe but cannot attack the owner because he is talking to someone else about an Uncle Mike's holster for 45 minutes?:D

Yep, me too.

My wayward children are fans of Sci-Fi also...and Mdl 13s, good 22s, 1911s, and BHPs, etc.

( One has ventured over to the dark side and actually owns a double wide, ported .45 ...I can't say it. Kinda sounds like 'Block' though).

As if STI group buys weren't enough, now I gotta buy books again.

At least I can get some Christmas shopping done early this year.

Thanks Larry.

salty.

Watching "The Birds" and thinking "nothing there a good 12-gauge couldn't take care of."

Can anybody that has written a novel advertise here or is it restricted to moderators? This isn't a wisecrack but a serious inquiry.

This is a great book, I read an early pre edited version and I cn hardly wiat till I can get my preorder in.

Phil DeGraves, PM Oleg with a sample of your writing and check with him.

We are just one very literary group here, eh?

Congrats!

(mine can be pre-ordered below for another week before Barnes & Noble and the other sites take over).

I've just ordered my copy. Although I admittedly don't read books all that much lately, I just had to have one of those patches! :neener:

Not to mention the opportunity to support a fellow THR member!

I have got to have a copy! Plus the patch is worth the $26.00 itself!:)

Correia,

How much do you dislike Paypal? If you are saying "THIS MUCH" and your arms are fully spread apart then I'll email you. But if you can show me how much you dislike them with your index finger and thumb then I'm gonna use paypal because it's easier and more convenient.:p

Man, I've been waitin' for this since you mentioned it during the joint Nightcrawler / Correia epic a while back. I don't check THR and I luckily did so today! Paypal payment is on it's way.
Thanks.

So long as the book itself would be of interest to members of the gun culture, it's generally ok. Matt Bracken, John Ross, and a couple of others have posted about the books they've published.

I was lucky enough to have Correia let me read his book early (I had to trade him letting him see my zombie movie before we got distribution :D ) and man, that's some good stuff. I definitely got the better end of the deal, IMO. I'm buying a copy. Heck, I might buy two, and give a copy to my director. :D

On Paypal, thumb and forefinger, it is more of a general dislike of how they treat guns as taboo. But if it is more convenient for you, go for it. Plus I'm all about selling some books. :D

The general idea with the pre-order is to get as many out there as possible when it first hits, that way by the time it is up on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, I'll already have some fans, and hopefully you guys will have liked it and told your friends. And if you absolutely despise it, and curse my name to hell, donate it to your local library. :p

Phil, if you're a writer, and have written a book, it isn't just for mods. Contact Oleg Volk, and let him know what it is about. Our general rule on fiction is that if it is "gun culture" fiction, (i.e. something that the general folks of THR will like) then it is fine to spread the word.

As for Oprah, she's set to review it right after hell freezes over. I'm not seeing the Oprah book club picking up something that has a guy wearing an embroidered NRA hat shooting a giant monster with a .458 bolt gun out his living room window.

Silvanus, I'm doing a flat rate, $12 shipping to Europe. I can just squeeze a copy into an international flat rate envelope. I've already got pre-orders going to Sweaden, Finland, Australia, and the UK.

Ash, cool. :) I'll have to check it out.
