THR member publishes a novel, and it is gun related, oh, it is gun related...

I went yo mu local barnes and nobles, went up to the desk and asked if they had it yet. I expected to be told 'it is not out yet' or 'we don't carry that at this store, do you want us to special order it'

Instead the guy running the computer eventually found it, and said 'doesn't look like we have any' to which I said 'can you special order one' and his reply indicated that it didn't seem like any of the distributors they use had any, but he still suggested I check Barnes and Nobles on line.

Now the guy was a real old geezer, maybe he just barely knew how to use the computer, or maybe it is because the books were in the pipeline, not 'still waiting to be published' and not 'here they are'

just letting you know

I checked B&N. They're still showing it as out of stock. Hopefully it will be available through Barnes & Noble before too long.

I had already started working on MHI, as the idea had been gelling in my head for quite some time. That quote was just too damn good not to use.

I figured as much. But, as this is the closest I'll probably get to being published, I figure I'd milk it for all it's worth.

;)

Minor Spoilers:

I'm to the part where Z gets to shoot Milo's modified Saiga. I'll be honest, I didn't expect that I would like this book, I'm pretty picky when it comes to my reading materials, but I like it a lot so far. Larry has found a nice balance with the gunny-centric detail, and the humor provides a nice release of tension. I've been laughing my ass off all the way through.

Cool.

See, I like when picky people like it too. :) Some folks are too easy. "It has guns, and monsters? And people shooting monsters? Hoo Ray!"

But when I got an English professor and actual literary critic who said, "well, damn, that's pretty good. Way better than most of the stuff on the best seller list" I was like, aw yeah, I'm gonna sell me some books. :D

I can't wait. I'd better hurry up and finish the paperback I'm reading now, although at well over 1100 pages and almost 3 pounds I might not finish it anytime soon. Even if you pay the full price of $25 it's a deal. What great stories.

The Black Lizard Big Book of Pulps: The Best Crime Stories from the Pulps During Their Golden Age--The '20s, '30s & '40s (Vintage Crime/Blck Lizard Orig) (Paperback)
by Otto Penzler (Editor)

Well, this is one of the few things I asked my wife to give me for Christmas.

I just got off the phone from ordering my copy from Larry. :D

Looking forward to it!

Just got mine in :) yay. No patches though :( Damn you Murphy! but seeing how they needed to send the books to Correia in two batches I can see how it happened, haha.

Now if you'll excuse I's got some reading to do.

Book & patch arrived today.'Priority Mail' envelope was torn;I suspect when my mailman stuffed it into my box but book is undamaged & patch was there.
Thankee Larry:you'll have my opinion when I get through it.LOVE the cover:typical Volk excellence.

Mine came today, hooray! Should I put the patch on my range bag or jacket :D

I'll be starting it after dinner

watching the mail

I ordered two, and they did not come today, so I will be watching the office mail tomorrow. I also got a shipping notice from Mernickle Holsters over the weekend, so I may just hang around all day watching for packages!

I got mine today too complete with patch and letter. Sweet! I need to finish mad mikes latest first then corria's is next.

Larry,
Started it last night...GREAT!

Now three things:

1. Have you started the next one, and can I preorder it?

2. When they buy the movie rights, don't you dare become one of "them"! :p

3. Is Owen's last name a nod to Clive Cussler/Dirk Pitt?

MHI came in the mail yesterday morning. At about 2 a.m., I finally handed it over to youngest son and said, "OK, *now* you can read it".

Larry, it's a great read. However, you, sir, are at fault for the asthma attack I incurred while reading about the Enchanted Forest. I swear, I couldn't *breathe*. For y'all who haven't read this yet, I won't spoil it...let's just say that Larry has used humor VERY well in this book.

Awesome. So, where's part 2?

Ok, just got done reading it.

Wow, just wow. Absolutely loved it.

Most books, I can find a spot to put the book down and do everyday errands. But with MHI, I just couldn't put it down. Ordered pizza so I didn't have to take time out and cook. Even started to get annoyed at the dog for taking too long on finding his "spot".

After reading
the sample chapter and Correias contributions to the Mr.Nightcrawler Trilogy. I knew I was going to enjoy it. The story just sucks you into it. Being a long time scifi/fantasy reader (Somewhat like Trip, in that regard) and lover of Budget Monster flicks myself. I was glad of the twists and recall saying out loud. "Didn't see that one coming."

Not much of a critic, but I'll register and pound out a review on some of the online sites. I'm also going to order a few copies from a local bookstore, and gifting one of them to the store itself. Or more accurately to one of the employees there that I know digs the genre. I have a strong feeling that it will get put up on the "Staff Picks" rack.

Springmom: Yeah that one caused me to have to stop and seriously concentrate on not spewing Mt.Dew from my nose.

Corriea: Know you've got MHI2 in the works, but please don't forget about Lorenzo as well (You too Nightcrawler!)

Sorry if that came out all scatter-brained, but I need to get some downtime and recharge my grey matter.

Sweet! :D

Mandrigama, shoot me a PM with your address and I'll get you a replacement patch. I bagged up like 150 of these in one day, so some might have gotten screwed up.

I'm really glad you guys liked it.

That seems to be what people are hearing when they go to B&N looking for my new book (with Alan Gottlieb) "America Fights Back: Armed Self-Defense in a Violent Age"

It's non-fiction and has been at the top of the charts for several weeks, yet B&N often doesn't have it on shelves, and has instead to order it. I wonder if that's how they are with any pro-gun book.

Larry, my youngest son now has it, and said gleefully "I'm host tonight," (works at a restaurant), "so I'm taking it with me to work." He's going nuts deciding his favorite quotes. You, sir, have written a real winner.
