Regarding that paper plate group I posted... I wouldn't get too worried about me dominating any competitions for a while.
That group was shot two handed, supporting my forearms on a tripod.
Also, as noted on the target, the temperature was 20 degrees fahrenheit... awfully cold, and almost certainly unattainable again this year around Portland Oregon.
It was my first trial putting that gun on paper... but it was shot with a pretty heavy load, 30 grains of 777... almost certainly not the load I would need to find to put down that sort of groups at a more typical temperature.
The fact that the group isn't particularly near the center is totally irrelevant... I only started seriously trying to learn to shoot a pistol last summer and I have made the decision not to adjust any of the sights on my guns until I have put in enough range time to smooth out my technique.
I suffer mildly from the high and lefts... but my typical groupings with my other guns are slowly coming onto my point of aim as I practice.
I'm trying to avoid the problem I developed in golf many years ago. I sliced the ball... and the more I tried to correct for the slice... the worse it got. The only reliable solution I've ever found to cure a slice... Aim into the woods on the right... ha... ha... ha... works every time.
So rather than move my sights to compensate for my bad trigger control and grip habits... I'm working on refining my shooting technique.
