I think the big board listing sounds just right for your new company.
I wish you luck with your endeavor.Thank all of you for encouraging my
enterprise. Hit a snag. Start up delayed.
Start up will now be April 1, 2023.
I just let it go now, for a while I tried, but there are too many of them and more every day - they win. Firearms companies and websites do the same thing, so - it has just taken over as a new term to mean the same thing, even though the definitions we learned don't align nicely."Too many handgun calibers"
I suspect you're going to have a hard time managing an ammo company until you get it figured out that several of the cartridges on your list are the same "caliber."
But maybe not. I don't really care anyway - I've always built my own "calibers" for my .41 Magnum.
I thought you were joking around a bit but sounds like you are actually going into the ammo business on 03/23. That’s great! I hope it works out well for you!
When I am Lord of the Universe, which
will occur on March 12, 2023, I shall
create a new ammo company.
This company will be catering to the
buyers of the most common handgun
calibers and not bother with production
aimed at pleasing the whims of a
minority number of shooters.
By paring down production of so many
calibers, my company will offer the
highest quality ammo at the lowest
costs ever seen in ammo.
Note, .22 LR is technically a rifle cartridge
but one item will be offered, the .22 grain
RNL.
Name of the company:
Supreme Handgun Ammunition
So, now, the calibers:
REVOLVER
.38 Special in 158 grains RNL, SWCL
and SWCLHP.
.357 Magnum in 125 grain SJHP and
158 grain SJSP.
.44 Magnum in 200 grain SJHP and
240 grain SJSP.
AUTO PISTOLS
.380 in 90 grain FMJ
9mm in 115 grain JHP +p and 124 grain
FMJ +P.
.45 ACP in 200 grain JHP and 230 grain
in FMJ.
I gladly leave all the superfluous
calibers and configurations to the
other ammo makers who will continue
to offer little needed nor really wanted
super expensive ammo.
THIS IS NO JOKE.
Sadly, I know you're right.I just let it go now, for a while I tried, but there are too many of them and more every day - they win. Firearms companies and websites do the same thing, so - it has just taken over as a new term to mean the same thing, even though the definitions we learned don't align nicely.
Maybe - maybe not. You want to pare down selections - but - in your opening salvo, you invent a brand new ammunition.Note, .22 LR is technically a rifle cartridge
but one item will be offered, the .22 grain
RNL.
THIS IS NO JOKE.
Well good folks, it has been a full
week since I announced my new
ammo company.
And now comes the bad news and
the good news:
The bad news is that I won't be starting
up the new company.
The good news is that a consortium of
major ammo makers has paid me 124
million dollars not to start up and
run them out of business.
So it's time the moderators close this thread
as it was so dang serious at times it was
depressing.
Ah, but you see...the ammo makers paid all of US to give you a hard time and run you out of business!
That is actually a very good idea.In all seriousness… if I were starting an ammo company I’d probably focus more on the weird stuff. If you’re the only steady supplier of 9mm largo, 8mm Nambu, 7.62 Tokarev, etc, competing with a foreign supplier or two whose products are only imported sporadically and have spotty availability, at least you’re guaranteed a small market of enthusiasts who would grow to enjoy and appreciate your brand. If you try to go head to head with the biggest boys in the industry, my guess is you would find it virtually impossible to produce ammo cheaper than the big players, and would only be competitive in the next panic -provided you have plenty of components.
