I am a list maker.

I make lists for several reasons:

1. I have CRS
2. I live on a budget so a list helps me to plan future purchases.
3. As my sis-in-law puts it “I have a lot of beep” so lists keeps things organized.

The beginning of every year I make a bucket list of firearms and firearm related items I would like to buy. My list is in two parts. The first part is simply a wish list more or less of things I want or have a need for. On the second part of the list I create 12 rows, one for each calendar month, and list items in each month I would like to buy based on my budget.

A couple of rules about my list;

1. First it is flexible. My interests may change during the year.
2. I love a bargain so I take advantage of sales which throws my monthly planner out of whack.
3. Guns are not listed as I like to buy used so I never know when I will run across one. Also I do a horrible job buying a specific gun as I either can’t find it or a better bargain comes along while I have the green stuff.

The first half of 2014 is shaping up to be mainly buying magazines. My bucket list for the second half is going to be based in a large part on politics and the November elections. If the Republican Party in the House continues to collapse on itself there is the possibility the Democrats along with the RHINOS could take back control of both the Senate and the House. All we need to do is look at the first two years of the American Caesars agenda to foresee the end of many of our gun rights.

So for January I have already met my bucket list…I purchased several hi-capacity magazines and brought a used gun too boot.

So what is on your bucket list for 2014?

CZ75 (on layaway now)

Walther PPKs

Ruger Single Ten

Sig P250 subcompact 45

.22 mag that was on my short list - Merry Christmas to me. Just bought a bull barrel .22lr with a light stock. The Leopold 3-9x42 had a bad windage screw but the LGS made me whole. Mueller scope anyone?

Attach a AK under folding stock to my Marlin. Going to get a second stock, cut it right behind the end of lever, and then find the best place to mount the folding stock to it.

As to why, I just think it would be fun and amusing to do. Besides I already get the occasional crazy luck for the red dot on it.

More stock in Ruger.

Depending on how life goes in 2014 and how fast I can build up the emergency fund, maybe an Enfield revolver and/or Enfield rifle, or a M1917.

Immediate list;
Remington R51
Hi-Power or pretty clone
Learn to weld
STGW57 from a kit (+63rnd drum mod)

Sometime later;
Steyr M95 in 50 Alaskan
BM59 from a kit
UK59 from a kit
ZB37 from a kit
Build the Skorparev prototype (miniature gas-op carbine based on the BREN)
Design/build a bolt-on VZ58 belt fed conversion

Even later;
Ural Gear-Up with all accessories
including a DP28 from a kit ;)

Since I was supposed to get most of those done last year and only got half way through them, I'm feeling pretty good about this year:D

A "kick the bucket list" is far more terminal than a yearly firearm acquisition goal. I hope to NOT have such a list for a few more years.

Isn't a 'bucket list' a list of things to accomplish before one's death?

But okay, I'll play: In 2014 I am planning on buying the exact same amount of firearms and ammunition as I did in 2013..........ZERO.
The several dozen firearms I own meet my needs and wants just fine already. I have sufficient ammunition and supplies for quite a number of years. Probably more years than I'll be around. I no longer feel the need to constantly buy more stuff, stuff that usually sits around because I only have two hands and X-amount of time. That applies not only to my firearms and muzzle loaders; but guitars, amps, archery, R/C stuff, vintage slot cars, cardstock modeling, vintage sci-fi & hot rod movie collection, etc.
Reminds me of that Delbert McClinton song (with John Prine and Lyle lovett): 'Too Much Stuff'.
I'm more into the 'get rid of some stuff' mode for this year and the year after that and the year after that and the year after that.

.

I've already paid for two guns, as of last year, and will be picking them up this year. In fact, I'm picking up a Walther PPK/S this weekend, when I get back home, which will find its way into my wife's hands.

The other I'm waiting on announcing until after it comes in and I pick it up. It's been a dream gun of mine for decades and I finally broke down and ordered one. When it comes in, I fully intend to take it out and shoot the bejeebers out of it, then post a picture of it on THR and sit back and see how many people will whine and complain about how I DARED to take such a gun out and actually SHOOT it!

I suppose the only other major purchases for the year will be a supply of ammunition for both these guns, since they're in calibers I currently don't have.

Well I probably thought that until October 23rd of last year. Now I realize the importance of not putting things off for several more years.

Yep. While I can’t image Heaven without guns nobody has come back to tell us what it is really like. I'm going to play it safe while on earth by owning and shooting guns...the more the better.

I’m sorry that sounds really, really boring and definitely not fun.

Oh thanks. Just keep us in suspense. I finally got one of my dream guns last year…a custom Ruger Single Six converted to 5 shot 41 Special. I'm thinking it needs a big brother S&W 586 converted to 41 Special also (and there goes my monthly planner. See what I mean when it comes to guns).

Please post a photo of that!

I don't need any more guns ... these days, most of my firearms purchases are purely impulse buys ... there are many I want, but too many to list.

I am going to be more active in looking for at least a hundred acres on the Eastern half of my state (or possibly, Idaho or Montana) to purchase. My own range of at least 300 - 500 yards (is a thousand too much to ask?) is a longtime dream, and my wife is totally onboard with this, too.

I'll be buying ammo randomly whenever I see what I need.

I shall do better logging of my range sessions in 2014.

I will go to Gunsite.

I will take my daughters through training and get them some advanced training from the best available instructors.

I will do whatever it takes legally to ensure my kids, my brothers and their sons inherit my collection.

And totally not gun-related, but I'm GONNA reduce the clutter in my house.

4 things that I really want in the near future...

1.) A 1911. Not sure which one. I just need one.
2.) A shotgun. More than likely an 870 or similar
3.) A custom built long range rifle. Narrowed it down to probably 6.5x284 or 6.5 creedmoor.
4.) Join a gun club with a long rifle range. All my rifles do me no good shooting at 100 yards or less. Need to step it up a bit.

If I get those things I would have a very well rounded collection. That would make me happy. ...at least for a couple weeks ;)

Crossed one of this year's list Saturday when I purchased a Sig 1911 Scorpion.

Still on the list:

Benelli SuperSport 12-gauge
M1A National Match
Ruger 10/22 rifle

I am actually going the other way with my bucket list this year. I went pretty hog wild last year getting started up with reloading and it got out of hand. I have NO regrets but I vowed to dial it down an notch or ten.

I gave myself a monthly budget that is a fraction of what I spent last year. My goal is to stay on budget and direct my time towards perfecting the accuracy of my loads etc with the stuff I have on hand.

Picked one up today, a double action .22 revolver. In this case, an Astra Cadix with a 4" barrel.

Still on the list: a 1911. I would love to have a Coonan, but will probably wind up with something a little more affordable like an RIA or similar.

Also would like to have an AR, just because. I may just pick up a lower and then start buying the rest a piece at a time. Not necessarily cheaper, but it would let me spread out the cost a bit and allow me to pick and choose a little on some of the hardware.

How so?

How can owning/shooting my 100+ firearms, 6 flintlocks, 37 airguns, and 4 bows possibly be considered "really, really boring and definitely not fun" ?
Is shooting somehow less fun for me simply because I didn't 'buy' anything additional in the past 12.5 months?
Is there some rare joy I'm missing out on by not being at Walmart in the early AM attempting to buy ammo (I've stocked up for years)?
I've been buying firearms since 1965.
Taking a break from 'buying stuff' in today's panic times and inflated prices does not diminish my enjoyment of shooting in any way.
It is not really, really boring and it is definitely fun. :)

.

Finally get a suppressor for my .22 pistols.

After that I have no plans. Maybe a WW2 Garand to go with my Korean War one.

Im hosting a ccp class here in my farm shop for for friends, family, and neighbors. The class is scheduled for mid-February. I hope to have the process done and a ccp in my billfold by the end of 2014. I'm not holding my breath, this is Illinois.

I'm going to make and tool a my own holster for my 1911.

I'll continue to look for a pre-'64 saddle-ring '94 30-30 and/or a nice 12ga sporting clays gun.
