What's on your bucket list for 2014?

I'm not sure bucket list is the best term here.

But my 2014 to buy list, copied and pasted from a word document, looks like this: Prices are ballpark in some cases, specific in others. The first giant block is related to my plans to assemble a 300 blk SBR this calendar year. That pretty much dominates the year due to all of the expenses involved. Especially since I want to get complete set up to reload it.

To acquire
8.2” Noveske or 9” AAC 300 blk upper (after tax stamp…) ($900-$1,150)
RE kit (RE, spring, H2 buffer, castle nut) ($83 shipped at BCM)
Stock ($40-$90, $59 for CTR-M at BCM, $95 for ACS-L at BCM)
Pistol receiver extension ($55 shipped from Riflegear)
Dies ($44+ on Midway)
WFT or WFT2 http://www.littlecrowgunworks.com/wft usa.html
Jig for saw, $39 from seller on 300blk
Manufacture and purchase brass ($115/500, example, seller on 300blk)
208-220gr .308 bullets (500-1,000) ($30-$45 per 100)
Powder; H110, W296, even lil gun or trail boss ($25+/lb)
Pistol grip (MOE+ $23)
Foregrip (Magpul RVG $44 from BCM)
Rear sight (MBUS2 $55 from BCM)
Light mount for Surefire from BCM, or new light with mount
Optic unless using Aimpoint from BCM
More factory 300 blk, especially subs and 110gr black tip
Upgrade FCG (ALG ACT $65, Geissele G2S $165, Geissele SSA $210)
Upgrade to ambi safety (B.A.D. A.S.S. $60-$80)

Free float rail/tube for BCM mid length
Glock 26, 19, and 21 magazines

My "bucket list" pretty much consists of an AR upper, new sights and stock for a shotgun and perhaps more ammo. Other than that, pretty comfortable with what I've got.

I had two Winchesters left on my bucket list to have at least one of all of their classic lever guns--an 1886 and an 1895. I am not wealthy, so current production from Maroku was going to suffice.

I just got the 1895 yesterday, so now all I need is 1886. That's it unless I get rid of something or buy another gun safe. :D

Well it's early in 2014 but I got that 22 WMR yesterday. Nothing fancy, a Marlin XT that was hiding behind some other rifles at the local (gasp..) Walmart .
I had been looking at the few LGS' and they had nada and was at the KCK Cabela's Tuesday and they did not have much either. But they did have some Hornady 22 mag ammo so got a couple boxes (limit 2 per :( ) while I was there just in case...
Now, need to mount a scope and wait till it warms up a bit to try it out.

I'm a big fan of the .22 WMR, what with that being the first ever gun I bought way back when. That was a Marlin 783 bolt act, tube-fed rifle.

I've been eyeballing the newer XT version and would love to hear from you on your experience with it, specifically the trigger function. With the integrated safety on the trigger, I'm especially interested in knowing how well it works and whether or not it's an essentially "invisible" feature that you don't notice when you are shooting.

It's just the plain jane synthetic stock version Chief. A decent fit and finish for what I plan to be a utility coyote rifle. Came with the 4 and 7 round magazine and I have a 3x7 scope with mounts on another 22 that will fit right on it. I'm going to have to wait till it gets above the -15 windchill factor  here in Kansas before I get any shooting done though.

Plain Jane is good enough for me. I'm interested in the basic trigger function. I can buy whatever stock/magazine style I want and dress it up, but if that trigger is going to tick me off, I won't want it at all.

:)

I don't need any more guns ... these days, most of my firearms purchases are purely impulse buys ... there are many I want, but too many to list.

I am going to be more active in looking for at least a hundred acres on the Eastern half of my state (or possibly, Idaho or Montana) to purchase. My own range of at least 300 - 500 yards (is a thousand too much to ask?) is a longtime dream, and my wife is totally onboard with this, too.

I'll be buying ammo randomly whenever I see what I need.

I shall do better logging of my range sessions in 2014.

I will go to Gunsite.

I will take my daughters through training and get them some advanced training from the best available instructors.

I will do whatever it takes legally to ensure my kids, my brothers and their sons inherit my collection.

And totally not gun-related, but I'm GONNA reduce the clutter in my house.
I've been to Gunsite several times and the best trip was when I went with my daughter!

Hunt more, shoot more, work less.take my grand kids hunting and to the range. Not a lot of dreams but a bounty of hopes.

BSA1: That is quite true about the antis' need to keep quiet for a while, built around the scheduled campaigns. They can not wait for the right Unexpected opportunity, they need a terrible tragedy to exploit.

Yep. 2014 is going to be a GREAT YEAR for gun owners and shooters in the free states to buy guns and ammo.

Wholesale and retail levels of ammunition are beginning to exceed demand. For example Cabelas and Gander Mountain shelves are very well stocked with ammunition. I am receiving regular emails about sale prices on ammo.

Reloading supplies are also coming back hit although at a slower hit and miss pace. However the inventories for some calibers of brass are high enough to be on sale. Primers are easy to find at pre-Banic prices.

If consumers cut back there spending from maxing out their credit cards and reaching their comfront level for gun and ammunition inventories prices will drop to pre-Banic levels (already happened with primers) and sales will be common (Cabelas is regularly advertising sale prices on guns. S&W AR Sporters have been on sale for less than $700.00).

The only downside I can foresee is the constant whining on the wire about the shortage of 22 Rimfire.

Unfortunately this whining and complaining is going to continue for the next three years (maybe the mods will get tired of it also, hint) as stores do not have large enough inventories, they don't have the brand of ammunition they want, they don't have the size of box they want, they don't have the correct bullet style, the quality of the ammunition has gone down (can't possibly be the guns fault), bulk ammo is junk, ammunition companies, wholesalers and retail stores ripping off consumers by overcharging customers, store employees tipping off their family and friends about sale prices, hoarders continuing to stockpile ammo (even though they will be the only ones continuing to make regular ammo purchases) and how unfair it is when folks that make money or have different priorities continue to buy more ammo than the whiners can.

Other than the 22 whiners 2014 is going to be a GREAT YEAR!

I'm with Forward Observer on this: a few Winchester levers would be good. For me it's an 1895 and a nice 1892. Got the others.

There are only 4 guns on my bucket list and maybe a 5th if one happens to come my way.
An M1Garand by either Springfield Armory or IHC in 95% or better condition.
A 6" Royal Blue Colt Python in 95% or better condition with original box etc.
A high end 1911 such as an Heirloom Precision.
A Savage Model 12 F/TR in .223 which I should be getting soon.

The first 3 are on my list every year and will be till I find one to my liking.
The Savage is the easiest to find and since I don't own a bolt action in .223 I need one.

Worlds Finest Trimmer (300 blk)
Jig for cutoff saw (for converting 5.56 to 300 blk)
4 lbs of H110 and 4 lbs of lil 'gun

^Things I may now cross off my list from earlier in this thread. :)

OK.

3 JM marlins. One shooter and two collector grade.
1 Collector grade Winchester (this one is done)
1 Ruger #1. I have not decided if this will be a shooter or not. Depends.
1 WW2 or earlier authentic American military firearm in original condition.
1 Remington 870
