Got it out today for a little test run at 300 yards.

Shot my spotter target and corrected a half mil shift in both elevation and windage vs the old stock. This is 3, 68 gn BTHP/25.0gn 748 @ 300 yards.

Even 55 gn FMJ was minute of tannerite at 300, this is 5 shots.

They are not uncommon these days but I thought it was a “game changer” back when I crashed my ‘82 or ‘86 truck, can’t remember and the hood was higher than the fender when I got it back, on one side.

I pop the hood and screw the rubber snubber down a bit and close it again, perfect! Light bulb popped up and thought that would be a good idea for elevation on a rifle.

So I took some stainless steel all thread and welded an end on it that would hold the bump stop on it.

Ok, what does that have to do with this stock deal? Well, I decided to modify the one I had when I opened up a drawer and noticed the perfect length of 3/8” brass. Took me a couple beers to find where I had put the modified pulley tap but I did find it to thread the brass full depth, to reduce effect of tolerance in the threads, for windage.

Thread, knurl, face and countersink and the brass is ready.

Level the rifle in the mill and center drill.

Drill to depth and tap the insert into the stock.

I might make another one or fly cut the spacers so I can get the stop flush, or not.

Now a way to set it down and it pretty much be ready for a tannerite shooter or even trigger puller if that’s the case.

Here are some other example of the same thing. They turn out great on houge stocks.

Mrs. Morris thinks it’s cheating.

So, how do these balance? If I dropped a Bergara B14R in one would it balance just in front of the Magwell? Butt heavy, front heavy...... don't want to add a lot of weight to balance.

Thanks

I don’t have an answer but here is my 26” 112 (paint can point of balance) without a can on it.

Has anyone used this chassis with a Howa 1500?

I just dropped in the barreled action chambered in 223 rem and I am using MDT 10 round mags. the mags lock up great but the rounds are seated to far back in the mag and the bolt will not chamber a round.
any ideas?
