Well, still nothing on USFA's website. But, I was at the 7-11 yesterday, and thumbed through a copy of 'Guns Magazine Complete Book of Guns'. There was a picture of the Remmie (looked like nickel), and the price.

$1595.00 :what:

I know we were expecting it to be expensive, but my heart still sank a little when I saw the price. Those 2nd Generation Colts ain't lookin' half bad now.
 
Makes my new Uberti I bought of Gunbroker w/Holster,belt,cartridge box, buckle and 2 new Lee moulds in box for $265........look really inexpensive. That has to be a wrong price?................Mike P.S. I could get 5 Uberti and pay shipping/insurance for that price
 
You get what you pay for with USFA SAA's....I hope the Remington meets their own standards....having owned Italiano SAA's and ROA's, they don't hold a candle to USFA workmanship and materials....and I LOVE my ROA....

For me they surely do at $1595 a pop for USDA choice. I can butter pan fry 5chuck steaks and is just as good. Hell I'd buy a nice original Remington 1858 NMA for $2000 first. :cool:

I'm sure the USFA Remmie is drop-dead gorgeous, and extremely well made, but $1600? USFA makes some pretty nice SAAs for a lot less than that. I just don't see them selling many at all, at that price.
 
I know what it's like to be obsessed with a BP revolver - with that in mind, the price of a USFA Remington is within striking distance for someone who might not otherwise spend that amount on a gun. I bought an original revolver recently and I went through all the mind twisting realities before I made the move, such as, "Well, I could buy 2 Colt 2nd Generations for that price or 5 Italian repros..." I wanted that gun and I bought it and I never looked back, and believe me I could have spent the money elsewhere (2 kids in college).
I'm guessing the USFA Rems will sell well.
 
I don`t remember what the USFA Rodeo started out priced at ...but it`s now down to 550.00 on their site ..So if they make alot of the Remmies and they don`t sell ..maybe this will happen and we can all buy one . I had my mind and wallet set for a 1,000 price ..but when was told 1,599.00 ..I said NO ...Like Smokin I bought a Ruger ROA instead ..real nice revolver and made in the USA to boot . It`ll fill the need for a cap and ball revolver made in the USA for a while .
 
I don't know much about these Remingtons - how close to the originals are they? Are they 2nd generation Remingtons, repros, or re-issues?
Imagine if Colt cranked up their 1860 machinery and made some re-issued Colt 1851s, 1860s, etc. Now that would be cool.
 
Pohill these Remingtons are re-issues ..USFA has the rights from Remington to do the remake ..all of the original stamping will be on the barrels ..no Itilian marks ..completely made in the US. They will come with papers stateing such ...sweet ...I`ve been waiting a long time for these ...So I`ll probally save my lunch money untill I can buy one .
We aren`t talking ..Uberti / Iver Johnson made like the Colt 2nd and 3rd Generation guns....I`m sure they will be very collectable ..but very shootable to boot ..I only collect guns I can enjoy shooting ....
After me buying a ROA ..I see cap and ball revolvers can be made that I don`t have to work on before I shoot them ..
It would be nice if Colt would do the same useing USFA ..
 
I took my ROA to the range last week. It's so easy to load and shoot. I just kept firing away for a few hours. That is one well made weapon. It does not like CCI caps, though - Remingtons work better (in mine at least).
How is your Maine gun doing?
 
Pohill ..I only had time to try it with the conversion cylinder , but I`ll take her out one day this week with the cap and ball cylinder ..I really like it , It was a nice supprise ..wish I haden`t waited so long to buy one .
I only use Remington #10 caps on all my Cap and Ball Revolvers ..I have never had a chain fire ..they fit better than any and are well worth the effort to find them ..30 mile drive each way for me ..only one store around me stocks the Remington caps . But for trouble free shooting with caps that work so well ..it`s worth it . I buy a case at a time .
 
I just had to add this in, My ROA loves, loves CCI#11 Caps...I think I even posted pics of the fired caps for you Pohill.LoL!
In over 3 decades I have used Rem caps maybe 5 times or 5 Tins worth...the rest of them caps in all that time were CCI#11's or #10's. Though I won't bad mouth Remington caps, I will say they never worked as well as CCI for me.
 
If it is completely made in the US of all-new tooling, it will be expensive. The reason the SAA is much lower is that they have spread the cost of the tooling out over a lot higher number of guns... it is possible that they do the same here eventually, but the first ones will have to be pretty pricey to make a profit.

There is also the possibility that the raw castings, tooled parts, etc. are left at a really rough state and they plan on using extensive hand work and fitting to make them into final parts, moreso than the SAA. That would leave them paying a lot less for their tooling if the demand isn't there and the sales are a flop. They may be hedging their bets and not wanting to expend a lot of capital on a product line with no sales history for them. This way, the majority of the startup costs for the new product is labor, and labor can easily be re-tasked in the event of poor sales performance. Not so on dies and fixtures.
 
Remington Caps

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I never had a CCI cap fit properly on anything.

Always used Remington #10's on the SS ROA I had back in the dim and distant '80s. And even on my little NAA Companion, the damned CCIs wouldn't fit, without stomping them on with my foot. Rem.#11s for the NAA. (Bad little gun, loaded w/Unique). And, it's an ideal 'off the books' little item to have when strolling through Philadelphia.

Hey, the barrel Jule put in actually made a big improvement!

Never had a misfire with a Remington cap either.
 
It's bound to sell pretty well, something like this is long overdue. A true US made revolver of a classic arm with correct markings etc. I think for anyone who wants a real collector grade revolver which is very shootable will jump at one of these even with the suggested high price tag.

Nope Bob, I think you remember Rimfires, and I talked with you on another forum about the 1873BP. Can't remember the name of the forum but remember your name was about 3-4 yrears ago met you there... Rimfires has been here but you've been in Great Britian.
