"Value" can mean different things. What I paid for them is not necessarily the same as what they're worth (i.e. what I could sell them for).

My most expensive pistol is this PT1911 I picked up for $489+tax. In this picture it is sporting new grips and a drop in .400 Corbon Barrel (just for fun).

I used to say the same thing. Two custom 1911's later . . . . I'm planning #3. There are some things I want that just aren't made. Like say, an Officer framed 1911 with a Commander length slide in 9x23 Winchester, with a spare 9mm barrel for cheap practice.

Two LW Commanders. One in .45 ACP, the other in 9x23.

Special touches like these aren't found on production guns. Milled top end and 10k Gold Bead staked into the front sight. Is it necessary? No. But its what I want on my serious guns. Remember that night sights have to be replaced, on average, about every 10 years . . . Many folks, including me, find gold beads far superior to tritium for low light work, anyway.

Like I said, I once said the same thing. I announced, "I'll never spend over $1000 on a handgun; it's just not worth it." Well, for most folks I guess they might be too much. Whatever too much is.

How much?

Hmmm . . . the 9x23, about $3000. The .45 is a bit tougher to value. I took a week off of work to spend with Jim Garthwaite building it. The parts, components, and tuition for the class came to about $2500. My time off work and my week of labor, and hotel costs add to it, but I'm not sure it's dollar for dollar value added. Jim told us if we ordered something like what we built there that week under his instruction, it would cost somewhere around $3500 to pay him to build it.

And yes, they are carry guns. And yes, they do get carried. And no, I'm not worried about losing them to an evidence locker. If I do wind up using a gun on someone, the last thing on my mind will be losing the gun to the judicial system.

A Freedom Arms revolver will likely be the most expensive new handgun that I ever buy. Still thinking about ....41 magnum or 475 Linebaugh?? I know, get both. $$

It was just to pretty and I have waited thirty years to own one.
Unchosen prototype for the Jubilee gun from SIG

Interesting. I have no idea what a jubilee gun is, but I have never seen that pistol, and I always like seeing stuff I haven't seen before.

wow.. I just said "see" alot...

I paid $659.00 for my HK45c which I understand sells for about $800.-850. now. My XD45 cost me $500. but I put a $300.00 laser on it so I guess it would be a $800.00 gun now.
