i saved up and got a KelTec P32 with a Fobus paddle holster. The entire rig cost me $250. It has proven reliable, and its so small and light that i often forget i have it on.
Just out of curiosity, why did you go with a paddle holster instead of doing pocket carry?
Because all of my training has occurred with belt holsters, so thats what I'm familiar with. I looked at a Galco pocket holster, but it seems like the paddle holster is faster. I see that Galco now makes a molded leather belt holster for small pistols, including the KelTec, called the "Stinger". Hopefully ill be getting one sometime soon
Back to the Glock 17 though. The other night, i went to a bar with one of my buddies and his girl. I left my rig (KelTec) in her car because i was going to be drinking. We all had a grand time.
Thing was, when they dropped me off at home, I forgot my KelTec and rig in her car. her boy friend is one of my regular shooting buddies and he grabbed it for me. I will have by rig back soon, I knew i would be stuck without it for about a week.
i still had my Glock 17 at home. SO, i ran down to the local gun store and purchased a Galco inside the pant holster, and a Galco biter bar gun belt. Its a LOT more than I'm used to concealing, but with a hoodie and proper holster placement, it disappears pretty well. I just need to make sure i don't reach above my head with my strong side, or go climbing over things.
Iv been running this rig for a few days now. I wore it to the liquor store, the movie theater, Walmart, McDonalds, and few other places around town, and nobody noticed.
I think the new rig cost me about $50 total for the holster and the belt. instead of blowing a ton of money on 511 or Blackhawk concealment shirts / vests, i think hoodies are a better option. An Adidas or Reebok hoodie from JC Penny will conceal just as much, without breaking the bank or informing everyone that your carrying. I can spot those things a MILE away, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
