"Voluntary trigger upgrade" for P320 offered by SIG Sauer

In response to the recent rash of videos demonstrating SIG P320s firing primed cases when dropped muzzle up at 30 degrees off the vertical, SIG Sauer has done its own testing over the weekend and acknowledged there is an issue. They issued a press release this morning:

I fail to understand how they could have avoided this type of testing in development

Attached is a good explanation of the problem and solution from TTAG. They also had to ask people to not do drop tests themselves with live ammunition, as apparently nominees for the Darwin Award were really doing it.

Interesting. So it is a combination of inertial trigger travel clearing the striker block and sear bounce that causes the drop discharges.
