GLOCK!
As many know.. I mainly shoot 1911's. I love "metal" guns, the weight, the pointablility and the feel of a gun not feeling like a toy. But... I admit, me being a hardcore 1911 person, I have this polymer itch that is dying to be scratched. I also saw the new P99's, pretty ugly from the older P99's. the slide has S&W labeled on them, a honkin' long external extractor, and the half cut rear slide serrations. Blah.
So, a while ago I shot a Glock 23 .40 because I also have a .40 niche that I want to fill. The compact size felt really good in my hand, and I really enjoyed the size. My groupings weren't too great, and the recoil hurt. It felt like the polymer grip wasn't absorbing the recoil very well.
But nonetheless... I didn't write it off yet. I still want a polymer gun, and most possibly a Glock.
I've checked out the SA XD's, they shoot better for me, the trigger pulls better, but for some reason the service size 4" doesn't really do much to make my heart race. I did look into a 3" subcompact, but I think I'm gonna go for the Kahr PM9 to fill the polymer pocketpistol niche.
I dunno what is making me intrigued by the Glock. I usually find it ugly, but I want one. Its unexplainable... I'm having a hard time finding the right words to explain how I feel. It maybe the reliability record it has, and the tough finish, and its reputation, and the cult that has following.
Maybe its because people like gudel went from a 1911 to a Glock, so... I can possibly like it too.
Now.... my dilemna. My 9mm pistol is a Sig P226 (currently at the gunsmith cuz I dropped it open chambered and bent the slidestop). The .40 recoil hurts to shoot for me, so theres the 19. But I remember the first time (back in sept.) when I was re-introduced to shooting we rented the Glock 19 and Sig P226. I shot the Sig much better.
But now... I just gotta find a reason to get a Glock I guess. Cuz, as little need as I have for one... I want one.
So... who has the best prices for Glock 23's and 19's in Orange County. Anyone remember the sale price for the 19's at Turners? The price they're asking now is $529.00
Actually, now I think about it... because I was talking to the guy for a long time... its the longest I've ever fondled a gun at a gunshop, and I liked it!
Well, I'm gonna go look around Orange County to do some price shopping, maybe stop by On Target before class to shoot a Glock.
I cant believe I wrote a post about liking Glocks. What a Kodak moment.
