Whadja get for BAG Day?

April 15th is BAG (Buy a Gun) Day, and we all have to do our civic duty and go out and buy a gun. (Remember what Reagan said: "To Republicans, every day is July 4th, to Democrats, every day is April 15th")



So, what did (or will) you get?

Well, my wife has put a hold on firearms purchases until I build her AR15. However, a couple of weeks ago I bought a Taurus 45acp Tracker. I really like it.

Marlin 39A Golden .22 Long Rifle. It came with the rear sight height adjustment missing so I ordered a new full buckhorn rear sight but today decided what the hell and bought a Leupold 2x7x33 scope on her. This is my first Leupold and so far I am favorably impressed.

WASR2 from AIM. I don't have ammo for it yet so it still counts. Got my box O' magazines from Rapid Fire yesterday. Seems a waste to have a dozen 30 round mags with no ammo.

Well, I bought a Stevens Favorite in Tulsa a couple weeks ago. That's gonna hafta count, because I can't afford a gun now. I've wanted one for thirty years, I guess I just like the looks of them. Lord knows I don't need another .22.

Eight grandkids, that's a good excuse.

This new one was made first year of production, 1894. Its having the barrel relined now. I might post pics when I get it back.

Plumb forgot about the holiday. Trying to clear out the credit cards for the first vacation in 18 months (going to Las Vegas for a week), and I'm planning on going to a number of shows, at least one of the indoor rental ranges, and having a VERY GOOD TIME.

Besides, this weekend is Songkran (Thai New Year), and I miss the festivities of the ceremonial washing of the Buddah images that degenerates into an all-out water fight. The Thais do know how to have fun, or sanuk, as they call it. But I digress.

I forgot too... but I've got some cash I saved up and I'm thinking of a Mosin-Nagant. I have a Schmidt-Rubin 1911 rifle (older brother to the K31) which is fantastic, but the 7.62 ammunition is much cheaper.

An SKS would be at the top of my list if it weren't for the sketchy ammo situation.

I bought a Springfield Mil-Spec 1911 this past weekend. My first 1911. I haven't even gotten out to shoot it yet (I hunger for a range trip!). I expect it to be wonderful, like holding a puppy made of snowflakes.

I'm pretty much kiboshed for the actual BAG Day...orders from on high, so to speak.

Didn't know about it but just today I bought a Buckmark Target .22 pistol.

And I may just splurge and buy that Sig P226 I've had a hankerin' for - not sure yet.

I didn't know it was BAG day but I did get a new Sheriff's Model vaquero today. Does that count? If not maybe I better go buy the Vaquero Bisley in .44mag on the 15th. I do not want to but if it is BAG day what choice will I have?

Just finished my 5th AR build, an A3 with a 4 picatinny gas block, FN profile barrel, Stag lower, DPMS parts and bolt carrier assembly. Shoot in this Saturday.

didnt know about BAG day...however I am only 18.

but I did have a purchase, it should be arriving on tuesday the 18th, bushmaster AR-15 A3 20"...basically a standard A3 that i'll shoot the piss out of, and possibly mod it way down the road...its what i'll be issued so I wanted to get aquainted

also bought 10 30round mags from 44mag wow they were quick! got here from oregon in 2 days! $94 shipped.

also bought 1,000 rounds of federal .223

im set, accept a cleaning kit...
