This happened in my neighborhood yesterday. Several people reported seeing an African lion:eek: just a few miles ENE of us. :what:

I wonder if it was just mass hallucination, or did some idiot out here really have a lion illegally. I wouldn't put it past somebody to have one, either as a pet or to guard a drug operation. And maybe it escaped.
Until we know for sure, I'm keeping the rifle handy and paying attention to the dogs barking.

NO NO NO!!!! use a 4 bore loaded with 2,000 grain solid copper bullets.
+1
thats exactly what I thought when I saw this but then if we go old school

72 cal bouble muzzle loader or my standard answer a 50-90 sharps

all i know is that pic clearly classifies as an emergency. if i saw one of those hopefully i would have my .50 cal close enough. followed by .45 long colt or .44 Walker

Best caliber nothing, stay indoors. If it busts in (unlikely), multiple hits from a good penetrator is my bet. 20 rds of 308 solids, anyone?

All this talk of solid bullets........wait my 50-90 is a solid lead flat nose.........never mind

.22 lr will more than do the trick. After all, you don't have to outrun the lion... just the person you're with. So shoot them in the leg.

A few years ago a guy in Northern Arkansas killed twoAfrican lions in his backyard , he used a 30-06 .

It isn't unheard of for people to have them illegally and when they get caught to just turn some of them loose before the law shows up and takes a accurate count as the fines are on a per animal basis .
