What gun do you use for Home defense??

Varies, depending on what I've taken to the range recently.

Any of the following might be found in my nighstand:

Semi-auto

Kahr K9
Beretta 92
EAA Witness 10mm

Revolvers

S&W Model 19, 2.5" or 4"
S&W Model 58, .41 Mag.
S&W Model 1917, .45 ACP
S&W Model 042, .38 Spl.
S&W Model 28, .357.

More often that not it's likely to be a revolver in the drawer.

I'm not sure what's in there right now, but I think it's the Model 1917.

Oh yeah. The Smith & Wesson 3000 12-gauge riot gun is under the bed. It's stoked with 5 rounds of Remington No. 4 buckshot, with another 5 rounds of S&W 00 buck in the buttcuff.

I rotate 3 handguns about every 2 weeks. A Ruger GP-100-4", S&W model 66-2 1/2", and a Llama 45 auto..........

Primary, a Winchester 1300 Defender full of 00 buckshot and a sidesaddle of slugs.

Backed up by an H&K USP Compact .40 full of 165 grain Golden Sabers.

Ruger GP-100 with 2 speed loaders with 110 grain .38 special +p and one with FMJ .357 (colored differently). This gets me to the 870 in the safe.

Greeting's All,

I think most of us would agree, nothing beats a
12 gague Shotgun. With that said, I rely on a Remington
12 gague Marine Magnum; stoked with #4 buckshot.

As far as handguns go, I will take my chances with a
6" Smith & Wesson model 686-5 loaded with six rounds
of .38 Special +P JHP's; and a .45 caliber SIG-Sauer P220
loaded with Federal's 230 grain JHP Hydra-Shok's.

Best Wishes,

Awful close to AlaDan.

If something's gonna happen and I have any inkling of it, I'm getting out the 870 12g w/#1 buck.

If I'm a little more surpised, the first thing to hand is a 686+ with seven 145 gr. .357 Silvertips.

If that were to run out or something, there's a Glock 17 full of a bunch of little 124 gr. Golddot +Ps.

Lord, I wouldn't want to break into any of these houses.

Lord, I wouldn't want to break into any of these houses.

At least not while anyone is home...

Hope they are all locked up when your not.

Right now it's a 92FS, I could load up a SG or two. What I am going to buy in a few months is Thunder Five. First two rounds 6 shot, next two 00's, and if BG hasn't stopped No. 5 is a slug. I love the appeal of revolver sized shotgun :D

I keep a Sig 228 with 124 grain Federal Hydrashoks for home defense. Now, Homeland Defense...... that's another story

As my wife never took to a shotgun, we rely on 45s: USP 45C (wife's gun) and several mags full of 185gr Speer Gold Dots are kept in a GunVault upstairs. USP 45Fs and 1911s and loaded mags are ready in the safe downstairs.

And I usually keep my CA Assault Rifle (1894 in 44Mag) loaded.

On the nightstand.
Kimber Compact CDP "cocked & locked" with seven Federal 230-grain Hydra-Shoks. One extra mag loaded with same.
Surefire 6P with the 120 lumen lamp. Checked every night prior to sleep for battery life.
In the living room.
Mossberg 590 A-1 (I think) 12 gauge with eight 2-3/4" number 7 shotshells in the tube.

Apartment living - must consider the sheetrock walls, but I'll only go down the power scale so far.

'Hope I'll never need to use anything, but just in case:

870 Police Magnum loaded with Federal #1 Buck.

But this is a handgun forum: Ruger .357 magnums (GP100 and SP101) are also at hand.

Always out in the house(no kids, two dobes), P7M8, Sig P245, .32 Guardian. Sometimes the Benelli M1S90 stays out of the safe.

.

I wear a Kel-Tec P11 when awake. I keep a WASR-10 hicap w/ 2x 30 round mags next to the bed, and a Mossberg 20 gauge w/ 6 rounds of #3 buckshot nearby. Wife keeps Taurus 650 .357 on her side. Son keeps his Henry lever-action .22 loaded w/ 18 hollow points near his bed for 2nd floor intruders.

Looney...ain't we?! :D
