Colt Python in .357 mag and a maglite, or depending on the situation, 11/87 with some OO Buck

Smith & Wesson Model 28, 4" barrel.

Loaded with .38 Special 158 grain LSWCHP +P, with two speedloaders for reloads.

Backed up with one of

these .

:D

Most of the time it's the Ruger GP100 with 3" barrel, loaded with .38+P ammo. Keep a Comp II speedloader close by too. If 12 of those won't save me, the S*** has really hit the fan!

Beretta 92fs with night sights and 15 rd mag on the night stand and a AK with 30 rd mag if things get wacky. I hope things don't get too wacky.

My side of the bed: Glock 30 with 200 gr Speer +P Gold Dots.
Passenger side of bed: SA Mil-Spec 1911 with Rem Golden Sabers.

In the nearby closet: Benelli Nova with 00 Federal buckshot, AK-47 with 30 Wolf 122 HP's.

On top of the bookcase/TV stand in bedroom: M1 Garand with three loaded clips.

Sometimes the M1 Carbine with Federal softpoints makes its way into the bedroom. It doesn't like to sleep alone.

There's a 4" bbl Dan Wesson 15-2 loaded with Federal Nyclad 158 gr. +P .38s in my wife's nightstand drawer.

S&W 4586 with 230 gr. Gold Dots in mine.

Looking for a nice used Remington 1100 20 ga. to replace the 12 ga. 870 in the bedroom closet. My wife has trouble handling the recoil with buckshot loads in the 870.

Moss 500 18" barrel Light field loads in sidesaddle 00 buck in stock carrier.

backup Sp101 3" .357 CT grips

yopu would probably expect me to say coonan , Nope ! I wouldn't Want that confinscated for evidence , So its the Lda 14-45 with 2 mags of a corbon 185+p , black talon230 mix next to the surefire flashlight , the other is my Lew Horton 3" 66 j model with corbons in it and a speedloader next to it , Btw those are awfully potent cigars if you know what I mean ...  and they taste metalic too..

These.

I do mix it up a bit from time to time simply to make sure I am comfortable with any of them but the great majority of the time it is these.

Cslinger: SIG220 9 rounds of 230 grain Hydrashock.

Sheslinger: Ruger SP101 5 Rounds 158 grain +P .38 HPs.

I knew a fellow one time who was a "secret smoker". He had a very well hidden (In all the times I was in his house, I NEVER suspected!) indoor pot garden. He did not sell, he grew it for his own use. The place he bought his supplies from was raided and his name and address were taken from a computer. (He had purchased the type of lights you need to have a successful indoor garden.) This next part is a neat LEO trick. :) They called his house on a cell phone and shouted, "Get everything out, the POLICE are on the way"! He ran out his door with a large paper sack and BOOM! "Probable Cause"!! The LEO's descended upon his house and caught him with the goods in hand. The point of my little story is that this guy had some neat hunting rifles with great scopes in a glass cabinet in his living room. Pistols were kept in another cabinet in a bedroom. The basement was full of reloading supplies. All the Officers did was find a firearm, call out to their buds to "Come and look at THIS one"! Lots of OOOooo's and AHHHhhh's, but they didn't TAKE the firearms. Maybe things are different in Kentucky. The Police took him away in handcuffs, but the guns and reloading supplies stayed in his house. I don't know what type of penalty he paid for his little "garden", but that stuff was the ONLY stuff the LEO's took. (Plus him!:) )

"You presumed that I don't like the Windicator.. It's a fine pistol, and I've outshot CDP class folks in IDPA with it, It's plenty of firepower for house defense and totally reliable with .38+P's.

Somehow, somewhere..people got the idea that the more expensive the gun, the better it is.."

I was only responding to what you said:
"All of my favorite firearms remain locked up."

I like to use my favorite firearms as much as possible. It's my least favorite firearms that remain locked up.
But that's just me.

Snub nosed Rossi 877 or 4" Ruger GP100 which ever I get my hands on first .... Either one will handle an intruder;)

I live in an area with very little violent street crime. Home invasions are rare in this neighborhood. Burglars are either extreme professional or juvenile. A professional burglar would not enter an occupied home. Most of my guns are locked up. Our biggest crime would be yuppie insurance fraud.
Occasionally my neighbor goes on a cocaine binge or gets real paranoid, then we go to full alert status. I wish I could find a way to predict his drug binges or other maniac stuff. The paranoia seems to follow the binge. When we hear him waxing the car at 3AM we can expect a problem soon.

My carry gun of the month has been parked under my pillow on a nightly bases for neigh onto 12 years now!! And you want to know something??? It works, as some house breaking goof found out in '94!!!! My ex was sorta anti gun, but my lovely wife keeps her G26 and two spare mags within reach!!! :D
